SMITH Cynthia J, 67, of Lexington, went home to be with the Lord Fri, Oct 2, 2009 at the St. Joseph Hospice Care Center. Born in Lincoln, IL, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Mildred Olson Stolz. Cynthia was a registered nurse at the University of Kentucky Medical Center for 34 years, having worked in the emergency room and then retiring from the Major Holding Room. A member of Centenary United Methodist Church, she was a member of the Stonewall Book Club, volunteered at "Best Friends - " and she was a member of Citizens Police Academy #27 in Lexington, KY. Cynthia loved to travel, her favorite place being Sedona, AZ and another love of hers was dogs. She is survived by her children, Brad [49604] (Marta) [49605] Scroggin and Carnee Ashley [49606], both of Lexington; five grandchildren, Meredith [49609], Brandon [49610], Shelby [49611] and Sloan Scroggin [49612] and Lauren Ashley [49608]; numerous cousins; best friend, Susan Tack-Adams and other close friends. A special thanks to Kathryn Hoagland as well as Centenary United Methodist Church Food Ministry and all who brought their dogs to visit Cynthia during her illness. Cynthia's family would like to express sincere appreciation for all those who helped her during her illness, especially Hospice of the Bluegrass. Ira Thomas "Mr. Tom" McManus, age 82, of Long Beach, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 30, 2009.

He was born and raised in Crystal Springs, MS. He was a graduate of Crystal Springs High School. He joined the Navy and served during World War II in the Asia Pacific. He was a life member of Eddie Blake V.F.W. Post #3937, Long Beach, MS. He also served as Commander of Robert C. Nail Post 687, Jackson, MS and Post 407 DeLisle.

He had 57 years as a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 903, Gulfport, MS, where he served one term as president.

He was a member of Shepherds Way Church, Long Beach, MS. He dearly loved his church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Lee McManus and Mary Mertie McManus; 2 brothers, Walter and James McManus; stepdaughter, Barbara Nell Scroggins [43764]; and step-grandson, Tom Garcia; and son-in-law, Cleveland (Bud) Garcia.

He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Olene W. McManus of Long Beach; daughter, Linda Garcia of Gulfport; son Thomas Gilbert McManus; grandson, Thomas Lee McManus; granddaughters, Crystal Shrmetta and her husband Ken Shrmetta, Misty Lee McManus; great grandchildren, Kadin, Katelynn, Timothy and Luke; step-grandchildren, Donald Griffin Scroggins, Jr. [46401], Kenneth W. Knight, and Steven Lee Green; step-son in law, Donald G. Scroggins, Sr. [44264]; brother, Clarence (Cathy) McManus of Georgetown, MS; sister Helen Sojourner of Gallman, MS.

He loved gardening and fishing and once said he asked God for a little corner of Adam and Eve's garden.

He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. The family wants to thank friends L.J. and Peggy Pritchard for all their help during his illness.

Visitation will be held from 1pm-3pm on Sunday, October 4, 2009, at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Rd., Long Beach, MS. Service will be held at 3pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be held on Monday, October 5, 2009, at Biloxi National Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his wife Clotiel Hughen. Martel Scroggin, a retired advertising agency executive and novelist, died September 20, 2009, at home of cancer. He was 80.

Scroggin, a member of Crook County High Schools Class of 1948, had a ranch east of Prineville on the Ochoco Ranger Station Road. He wrote three fiction-based-on -fact book about the history and development of Central Oregon. All three books; Wasco, The Moonlighters, and The Sheepshooters, were taped and distributed by the National Library and the Library of Congress for the blind and physically handicapped. The Sheepshooters was the first novel written that covered the violent cattle-sheep wars that ran from 1886 to 1906.

He started his advertising career in San Francisco with Batten, Barton, Durstine and Osborn, where he was the account executive for the U.S. Steel and Pacific Gas & Electric accounts. In 1958, he left BBDO to become a co-founder of Allen, De St. Maurice & Scroggin. Nine years later, he founded the agency that was to become Scroggin & Fisher, handling such accounts as the San Francisco Examiner, Chevron, China Airlines, Fairchild semiconductor, Otis and NEC corporation. After his retirement, his company was acquired by Batten, Barton, Durstine & Osborn, the ad agency where he got his start.

Scroggin served on the board of directors of the Transworld Advertising Agency Network (TAAN), a group of agencies throughout the world He became the only chairman in the history of this organization to be re-elected for four consecutive terms and travelled extensively - often with his family - to help build the total membership to 40 worldwide members.

He received a degree in Journalism from the University of Oregon, where he was president of his fraternity, Phi Kappa Sigma, and was a Korean War veteran. He served on the steering committee for the Friends of Radiology at Stanford, and was an active member of The Family Club and the Crook County Historical Society. Other memberships included the Hoover Institution, BPOE and Western Writers of America.

His wife, Gretchen, preceded him in death in 1989. He is survived by his daughters, Leslie and Wendy, a son, Jeff, and five grandchildren.

Bessie was born in Elkhart, TX on January 17, 1912, daughter of the late Marvin and Helen (McKinney) Hortman. She was baptized in 1927 in Elkhart Club Lake. She lived in Elkhart and Freeport, and has been in Beaumont since 1987. She was a member of Amelia Baptist Church, Triple L Club, AARP, and KOPS 345 Alumni of Southeast, TX. Those left to cherish her memory are daughter and son-in-law, Melba (Shipper) and Garland Stansel of Angleton; son and daughter- in-law, Dr. Kenneth and Robbie Shipper of Beaumont; brother-in-law, Harry Dunnam, of Palestine; sisters, Jewel Rainey of Angleton, Dora Quarles of Elkhart; and brother, Marion Hortman and wife, Kathleen, of Elkhart. Also, surviving her are her grandchildren, David Stansel, Wayne Stansel, Larry Stansel, Suzy (Stansel) Potts, Connie (Stansel) Dunn, Stanley Shipper, Ted Shipper, Greg Shipper and Cindy (Shipper) McMurrey; step-granddaughter, Missy Sawyer; step-grandson Butch Sawyer; twenty-two great- grandchildren, nine great- great grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by brothers, Elbert and Junior Hortman; sisters, Bulah (Hortman) Gilcrease and Martha (Hortman) Dunnam; and husbands, M.C. Shipper, Edward Pridgen, and Clifton Scroggins. Edna Frances Scroggins, age 92, left us to be with the Lord on September 15, 2009. There will be a viewing at Benson Funeral Home in Moses Lake on Friday, September 18, 2009 from 5p.m- 8 pm. A service will be held for her on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the Nazarene Church in Royal City at noon. She is survived by her children, Wayne (Helen) Scroggins of Royal City, WA; Ronnie (Erma) Scoggins of Cresent OR; Roger (Jean) Scroggins of Royal City, WA; Gary (Maryln) Scroggins of Royal City, WA; Joyce (Ronnie) Smith of Lacey, WA. Albert Zachery "A.Z." Scroggins , age 82, of Haskell, passed away Friday, Sept. 11, 2009.

He was born June 30, 1927, in Birdie, Ark. Mr. Scroggins was a heavy equipment operator for Horner Sand and Gravel. He was preceded in death by his wife, June Scroggins , who died in 1988. Mr. Scroggins was also preceded in death by his parents, Ollie [7301] and Elsie Scroggins [7468]; his special friend and life partner, Cecilla Vick; three brothers, Floyd [?], Wilborn [35635] and Roy Scroggins [35416]; and three sisters, Arvella Schimmels [?], Louella Dahy [35720] and Retha Blaylock [35724].

He is survived by two stepsons, Gene Cullins of Malvern and Jim Head of Benton; stepdaughter, Amy Holley of Malvern; three brothers, Henry [35718] and O.C. Scroggins [35717], both of Benton and Clyde Scroggins [35716] of Hope; sister, Lela Brents [35722] of Benton; three half sisters, Mabel, Helen and Faye; grandson, Phillip Booher; and two great-grandsons, Tallon Brantle Booher and Avan Adam Booher.

Patricia Scroggins Ruden of Shorewood, Ill., passed away at Edward Hospital in Naperville, Ill., Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, after a brief battle with cancer. She was 71. Pat was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and participated in clubs and organizations within the church, including the Altar Guild. She was also involved with the Home Economics Club of Joliet for many years. Previously, she worked for Northern Illinois Gas Co. in the home economics department, which included her portraying "Penny Flame" at many seminars and trade shows.

Pat worked alongside her husband, Don, at Expert Optics in Shorewood for over 25 years. She enjoyed traveling throughout the world and vacationing with family in Florida. Her nine grandchildren were her pride and joy. Pat was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Donald Ruden; two sons, Eric Ruden and wife, Brenda of Annapolis, Md., and Greg Ruden and wife, Anne of Naperville, Ill.; a daughter, Jennifer Madson and husband, Joe of Naperville, Ill.; her mother, Louise Taylor Scroggins; and one brother, James Scroggins and wife, Lou, all of Van Buren. She is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan and Lois Demos, Norma Larson, Barbara Nurczyk, Ron and Toni Ruden; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, G.W. Scroggins of Van Buren.

Funeral services were held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 412 E. Benton St., on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at 10 a.m., under the direction of Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home of Joliet, Ill.

PRESSLEY, SR. Mr. Garland Eugene "Buddy" Pressley, Sr.- born May 13, 1935, a native of Fayette, Alabama and long-time resident of Mobile, AL, died August 28, 2009, at a local nursing home after an extended illness with Alzheimer's Disease. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, P.E. "Jack" Pressley and Hazel Sykes Pressley, daughter, LaDonna Jean Pressley, sister, Hazel Catherine Pressley, and brother, Charles Franklin Pressley. He leaves to mourn his going home, his loving wife of 52 years, Janice Maloy Pressley, two daughters, DeRhonda Pressley Arnold, Dawn Pressley McLean, one son, Garland Eugene Pressley, Jr. (Lori). Five precious granddaughters, Jessica Marie Arnold, Rikki Leigh Arnold Scroggins (Eric), Ereka Janese Pressley, Kaylie Marie McLean, Kaysie Anne McLean and one beloved grandson, Alex Keenan Pressley, sister, Doris Jean Pressley Pugh(Kirkland), and brother, James Edward "Jimmy" Pressley. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives who loved and respected him. Buddy made his profession-of-faith and was baptized at Oakdale Baptist Church where he actively served for many years, and presently being a member of Woodridge Baptist Church. He graduated from Murphy High School, Class of 1953. After more than 27 years of service to the citizens of Mobile, he retired from the City of Mobile Fire Department as a Fire-Fighter/Driver and Chief-Aid and as a member of International Association of Firefighters Union-Local 1349. He served 8 years in HQ & HQ Co.2nd BN. 200th Infantry, 31st (Dixie) Division National Guard. Buddy was very active in fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball, playing for over 42 years. The teams he played for included Oakdale Baptist Church, Woodbridge Baptist Church, Mobile Fire and Rescue Department and various local businesses. During this time he was on numerous league championship teams, participating in state and national competitions. His individual awards are too numerous to mention. He umpired for 8 years on his free time. Buddy was the first City of Mobile Fireman to be honored and inducted into the Mobile Softball Hall of Fame on July 1, 1993. On September 4, 2009 a visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on September 4, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. in Pine Crest Cemetery with interment to follow. ADAMS, DANIEL EUGENE "Dan", 61, of Apopka, FL. He was a former resident of Madison and graduated in 1966. He was inducted into the United States Army on July 19, 1966 at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He rose to the rank of Sergeant serving in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on July 18, 1972 from St. Louis, MO receiving the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medals with Sixty Device. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the 173rd Air Bourne Division and was awarded the Bronze Star and The Purple Heart Medals. He was united in marriage to Judy D. Crowe in Apopka, FL on June 5, 1992. He was a self employed owner and operator of D & E Fernery in Apopka, FL. He had resided in Florida since 1969. He attended the Round Lake Christian Church in Mt. Dora, FL. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his grandson and grandchildren, they were the love of his life. Daniel died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009 at 3:56 p.m. at the Florida South Hospital in Apopka, FL. Dan will be missed by his loving wife Judy Crowe Adams of Apopka, FL; his daughter, Andrea Ruth and her husband Ryan, of Mt. Viola Davis, 89, of Nacogdoches, passed away peacefully Friday, August 14, 2009, in Nacogdoches, Texas. A mass of Christian burial service will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Monsignor James E. Young officiating. The burial will follow in Moral Cemetery. Viola was born in Nacogdoches, Texas, on February 14, 1920, the daughter of the late Andrew and Willie (Manchaca) Lozano. She was a devout Christian woman, attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and contributed to many causes as a behind-the-scenes benefactor; as long as she was able she saw that her family grave sites were well tended. Viola loved life, family gatherings, cooking (especially her chicken & dumplings), and she enjoyed eating. She worked as a machine operator at McGraw-Edison/Cooper Industries until her retirement. Then, her last years were spent at Willowbrook Nursing Home, where she was a happy resident and made many special friends. Viola is survived by a sister, Ellen "Mickey" Barnett [26373] of Nacogdoches; nieces, Donna Deason and husband, Robert, Deborah Horton [48866] and husband, Mike, Teresa Bryan and husband, John, Phyllis LaRue [48868], all of Nacogdoches, Vicki Wright and husband, Floyd of Lufkin, Texas, Nancy Hudgins [15256] and husband, Bud [15257] of Gilmer, Texas and Annette Embler [48867] and husband, Walter of Beaumont, Texas. Mr. O'Berry was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He lived for most of his life in Savannah working for the Chatham County Police Department, the Savannah Police Department and the Garden City Police Department. He was the owner and operator of O'Berry Bonding Company for 25 years and O'Berry Tire Company for 26 years. Mr. O'Berry moved to Bulloch County in 1973 before retiring in 1995. He was greatly loved by his wife and family. Mr. O'Berry was a believer who loved God and attended many churches in the area. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred B. and Bessie Webb O'Berry Sr.; and a brother, John William O'Berry.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Betty Whitaker O'Berry of Brooklet; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Frank Scroggin of Wilmington Island, Ga., and Lisa and Marvin Headley of Dacula, Ga.; a sister, Evelyn O'Berry Adams of Pooler; a sister-in-law, Margie O'Berry of Wilmington Island, Ga.; five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Black officiating and W.A. Edwards assisting.
Pallbearers will be Noel Forrester, Lamar Scroggins, Phil Scroggins, Tyler Scroggins, Caleb Scroggins, Phillip Scroggins, Joel Headley and Andrew Headley.
Burial will be in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. English was born in Thomaston, Ga. on April 12th, 1916 and was a 1934 graduate of R.E. Lee High School. She was employed by the Ammunition Plant in Macon, Ga. during World War II. Mrs. English was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Thomaston early in life and later, as she and her family moved to Florida, she became an active member in the Presbyterian Church there as well. Mrs. English loved to work in her garden and with her flowers. He was a Teacher and a Coach for the public Schools starting at Gattis Jr. High 1973 to 1988, Texico 1989-92, Alamogordo 1992-98, Bovina, TX, 1998-02, Grandview, TX, in 2003, and back to Clovis High in 2004. He was a member of the Clovis/Portales Elks Lodge, NM Athletic Coaches Association, and served in the NM National Guard where he was called to Prison Riot in Santa Fe. Bruce enjoyed fishing, golfing, and gardening. His true passion was the Clovis Wildcats.

COLE, EDNA CAMPBELL, 100, died in Naples, FL July 21, 2009, where she had been a resident since 1997. She was born in Louisville, graduated from Atherton High School in 1926, attended the University of Louisville, and trained as a medical technician at the old Norton Infirmary. For many years she resided with her family in Nicholasville, KY and was an active and giving member of the community and one of the founding members of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Edward C. Campbell and Emma Jones Campbell, of Louisville; her sister, Elizabeth Jones Rinehart, of Westhampton, MA; and in 1981 by her husband, James D. Cole of Nicholasville, KY; and by Max of Naples, FL.

She is survived by her daughter, Lea Cole Smith and her husband, David Smith, of Naples, FL; her son, John David Cole and his wife, Vickie A. Cole, of Bowling Green, KY; and three grandsons, John David Cole Jr. and his wife, Heather Wilson Cole, of Bowling Green, KY, William Mohead Cole and wife, Erin McGreer-Cole, of Fossil, OR; and Rodes Myers Cole and his wife, Elizabeth Scroggins Cole; and great-granddaughter, Marion Claire Cole; and a great-grandson, Rodes Myers Cole Jr., of Atlanta, GA.

Woman arrested in carjacking attempt

Sheriff's deputies arrested a 26-year-old woman at a bar Friday afternoon after she allegedly tried to carjack another woman who had refused to give her a ride, according Sgt. Greg Lansdowne.

The incident started just before 5 p.m. when a 40-year-old Santa Cruz woman pulled off Quail Hollow Road to make a cell phone call. During the call, Christina Scroggins confronted the driver and said she wanted a ride. When the driver refused, Scroggins allegedly ripped off the woman's sunglasses, scratched her face and declared she was going to take the car, according to deputies. Lansdowne said Scroggins also tried to open the car door.

The driver managed to get away. She drove to the Zayante fire house to get help.

About an hour later, deputies found Scroggins at a bar in Ben Lomond and arrested her on suspicion of attempted carjacking and battery. The Santa Cruz resident remained in County Jail on Monday.

A Clarksville man was charged Sunday with fleeing the scene of a wreck he caused while under the influence of alcohol, according to arrest warrants.

Jeff Wayne Scroggins, 21, who gave a 3291 Tower Drive Apt. D address, was charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury, according to an arrest warrant filed by Officer Gregory Rosencrants.

Scroggins was driving west on Interstate 24 at 1:55 a.m. Sunday when he drove his car into a guard rail near mile marker 7, injuring his passenger, Rosencrants wrote. Scroggins ran into the woods after the wreck, according to the warrant. Police found him in a corn field near the scene.

Police found two open bottles of liquor in the car, according to the warrant.

At various times, Cathy taught Spanish and English at North Arvada Junior High School and worked as a commercial real estate broker and financial planner. At all times she was the consummate wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her husband, John, her children, Michael McCabe (Denver) and Christine Scroggins [48365] (Maple Grove, Minn), and three grandchildren, Charlie [49225], Leo [49226] and Henry [49227] (Maple Grove, Minn). She is also survived by her mother, Marie Tallarico (Keokuk, Iowa), and her sisters, Judith Carrell (Plano, Texas), Sally Tallarico (Dallas, Texas), Susan Kennedy (Appleton, Wis), Tina Cutter (Fort Worth, Texas), and Teri Gardner (Scottsdale, Ariz). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Rocky Mountain Environmental Health Association or the Colfax Community Network.

Jim Scroggins, 54, of Arlington, TX, passed away Thursday July 2, 2009 at Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #2114 in Arlington. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cordie Stone [31157] and is survived by his father, James H. LEONARD - Ellen Ruth Bradford was born March 5, 1929 at Emory, Texas to Henry Childers and Sarah Stephens Childers. Ruth Childers married Alvin Scroggins [39091?] with whom she had her five daughters. He preceded her in death. She later married Hiarm Bradford on March 21, 1986. Ellen Ruth Bradford, 80 of Leonard, Texas, died Friday, July 3, 2009 in her sleep at her residence in Leonard, Texas, after a year long battle with cancer.

Ruth always had a smile on her face and never met a stranger. She was always laughing and cutting up. She was famous for whistling outside her home to call her children home. All her neighbors knew she was wanting her daughters when she whistled. She was a fantastic seamstress sewing all of her daughter's clothes. If her daughters found something in the store they liked. She could make it for them. She loved to quilt. She made baby quilts for all of her grandchildren. Up until her last moments she was planning her next quilt. All of her quilts were hand-made and are very special to her family.

She is survived by daughter, Shirley Fagan of Leonard; daughter, Martha Winton of Dodd City; daughter, Mary Cox of Milton, Florida; daughter, Ruby Johnson of Leonard; brother, Thomas Childers of Emory; sister, Ruby Williams of Leonard; brother, Jimmy Childers of Whitewright; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Sarah Childers; husband, Alvin Scroggins; husband, Hiarm Bradford; daughter, Alva Dunlap; granddaughter, Sheila Jefferson; great-grandson, Larry May; brothers, Albert and Bufford Childers.

Bettye Lou Bradley was born Feb. 27, 1943, in Strong City, Okla., to Ab and Opal (Blakley) Hendershot. She grew up in Strong City and received her education there. She married Joe Bradley on May 30, 1959, in Strong City, Okla. They made their home in Cheyenne, Okla. Before moving to a ranch near Brewster in 1987 then later moved to Ansley in 1991 where they made their home until her death.

Bettye loved her grandkids and enjoyed their sporting events. Whatever they were doing that's where she wanted to be. She loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and riding horses.

Bettye is survived by her husband, Joe Bradley Sr. of Ansley; two daughters, Terrie Seitsinger of Merna and Tammie (Brad) Kaelin of Broken Bow; three sons, Joe Bradley Jr. of Ansley, Jimy Bradley of Merna and Justin (Tracey) Bradley of Brewster; 11 grandchildren Josey, Cody, Shelbie, Denton, Tyler, Karissa, Ty, David, Blayne, J.T. and Zack; two great-grandchildren, Leslee Jo and Brennan; one sister, Frances Scroggins of Strong City, Okla.; and one brother, Jene (Jaunita) Hendershot of Houston, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Chancey; three brothers, Jack, Jim and Johnny; and one sister, Ann.

Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Joe Bradley Sr.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Terrie Seitsinger of Merna and Tammie and Brad Kaelin of Broken Bow; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Joe Bradley Jr. of Ansley, Jimy Bradley of Merna, and Justin and Tracey Bradley of Brewster; a brother and sister-in-law, Jene and Jaunita Hendershot of Houston; and a sister, Frances Scroggins of Strong City, Okla.

David James Townsend, 80, of 326 Schneider Dr., Fort Walton Beach, passed away Friday, July 3, 2009 at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.

David was born Dec. 8, 1928, in Baltimore, Md., a son of the late James Alfred and Mary Alice Litzan Townsend.

David served in the United States Air Force as a tech sergeant. He sold produce locally and was affectionately known as the "Tomato Man." He was a member of the Oakland Assembly of God. His family remembers him as an honest and hard-working man. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by one brother: John Townsend, and one stepson: Bobby Kennedy Sr.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 38 years, Alta Scroggins Townsend [] of Fort Walton Beach, one stepson: Richard Kennedy and his wife, Sandra of Navarre, one stepdaughter: Kathryn Johnson of Pace, Fla. , nine grandchildren: Barbara Hawthorne and her husband Dean of Milton, Linda Duncan and her husband Mike of North Carolina, Bobby Kennedy Jr. of Crestview, Matthew Kennedy of Milton, Sarah Kennedy of Pensacola, Carol Daw and her husband Jimmy of Pace, Christa Harder and her husband Ben of Dayton, Ohio, Christopher Kennedy of Navarre, Jason Kennedy of Navarre, 17 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. Mr. Townsend is also survived by his half brothers, Jim Townsend, George Townsend, and Bill Townsend all of Camden, N.J.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009 in the chapel of Emerald Coast Funeral Home. 113 Racetrack Rd. NE, Ft. Walton Beach, FL 32547. The Rev. Joe Maxwell will be officiating. Burial will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery.

Memorial services for Mrs. Myrtis Virginia Johnson Farmer, 90, of Bastrop will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2009 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.

Myrtis Virginia Johnson Farmer was born November 23, 1918 in Winnsboro, La. to the late Ervin Willis Weems, Sr. and Nettie Scroggins Weems. She died Monday, June 29, 2009 at her home in Bastrop.

Mrs. Farmer was a member of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Hermitage, Ark. and a retired nurses aide at Summerlin Lane Nursing Home where she served for over sixteen years. She will be fondly remembered by her family for her loving and caring spirit.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy T. Johnson; her parents; a son, Billy Joe Johnson; a daughter, Ann Andrews; and grandson, Randy Johnson.

Mrs. Farmer is survived by her daughter Helen McVay and her husband, Jim; three sons, Ervin Johnson and his wife Frances, Joey Johnson and his wife Brenda, and Tommy Johnson; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
