SIGLER, Orville R. Sr. Age 78, of Dayton, passed away at the VA Medical Center Thursday, April 27, 2006. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Mae Sigler; sisters Martha (Wampler) Kier, Goldie Gunckel and Hazel Stamper; brothers Elmer, Art, Philip and Lee; and his nephew Wayne Sigler. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Marlo (Kelso); daughters Sharyl Cowan of Texas, Catherine Murrell of South Carolina, Cheryl (George) Wacks of Miamisburg, Melanie (life partner Nancy) Seibel, and Michelle (Kent) Hickey ; sons Orville (Terri) Sigler of Georgia and William Scroggins of California; 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; sister Mary Hartley of Dayton; brother Earl of West Alexandria; brother-in-law Richard (Barbara) Kelso and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Sigler was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and enjoyed golfing in Florida. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Memorial services for Mr. Sigler will be held 6:00 PM Tuesday, May 2, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 7700 Dog Leg Rd., Dayton . Pastor Alan Knoke will officiate. Interment will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-6 PM Tuesday at the church. Raymond William Schultz of Salem, Ark., son of the late Carl William and Frieda Maria Theresa Seboldt Schultz was born July 17, 1924, in Springfield, Mo.

He died April 5, 2006, at his home in Salem at the age of 81.

Schultz was united in marriage to Dorthy Fay Taylor on Dec. 26, 1980, at Kansas City, Mo.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He worked for Standard Roofing Company and later owned his on roofing company.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, where he sang in the choir.

He worked with the Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Roofing Association and the VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Dorthy Schultz of Salem; one son, Sam Schultz of Springfield; three daughters, Heidi Scroggins [46450] and husband, Larry [46449], of Kansas City, Ramah Cosby and husband, James, of Olive Branch, Miss., and Lema Easley and husband, Rick, of Kansas City; nine grandchildren, Rachel Almstedt [46452] and husband, Jon [46453], Yancy Scroggins [46451], Ranea Brown and husband, David, Sarah Ramsey and husband Bradley, Michelle Chapman and husband, Ricky, Lisa Easley, Katie Easley, Kyle Easley, and MacKenzie Easley, Conner Brown, Noah Brown and Mason Rogers and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters.

The funeral services were held April 8 at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Horseshoe Bend with pastor David Tews officiating. Interment was in the Salem Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Yancy Scroggins, Kyle Easley, Jon Almstedt, David Brown, Ricky Chapman and Bradley Ramsey.

Honorary pallbearers were were Woodrow Hodges, Shane Rogers, Carnie Sokol and Ray Wolfgang.

Memorials are preferred to the St. Matthew Lutheran Church, c/o 2300 Farrell Circle, Gulfport, MS 39507-2221.

SCROGGINS, DR. DON S. - director of Institutional Research and Assessment at the University of Tennessee, died Monday April 10, in Knoxville. He was 58. The cause was heart failure. Dr. Scroggins had been on the Institutional Research staff for 26 years. He began there while still in graduate school and went on to serve as assistant and interim director before being appointed to the director's position in 1996. The office is responsible for a wide variety of statistical studies ranging from university enrollment patterns and faculty salary levels to assessing the effectiveness of academic units. Dr. Scroggins was born in Decatur, Tenn. But as the son of a Methodist minister, he lived in Kingsport, Johnson City, Jasper, Athens and several other communities where his father was a pastor of United Methodist churches of the Holston Conference. He attended a number of public schools and was graduated from Ketron High School in Sullivan County in 1965. He attended East Tennessee State University and was graduated in 1969 with a degree in music. He was an accomplished pianist. He taught music in the Hawkins County public schools for several years before enrolling in the graduate program in the College of Communications at the University of Tennessee. He received a master's degree in 1976 and a doctor of philosophy degree in communication in 1982. His dissertation was a study of the origins ad development of public radio in Tennessee. For a number of years, Dr. Scroggins taught a course in research methods for the College of Communication in addition to his full time duties in Institutional Research. Dr. Scroggins was a veteran collector and dealer in antiques and for a number of years maintained a booth in a Knoxville antique mall. He also collected folk art and books and raised both Scottie and Westie dogs. He was the son of the late Rev. Roy Edward Scroggins and the late Neva Shultz Scroggins of Athens. He is survived by John Bailey, his partner of 27 years; two sisters, Nola Hubbard and Jo Blount both of Athens and a brother, Roy E. Scroggins Jr. of Rising Sun, MD. Private services are planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley and the Tennessee Scottish Terrier Rescue Society.

PEORIA -- Galena E. Scoggins, 84, of 6701 W. Plank Road died at 12:42 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 28, 1996, at Methodist Medical Center.

Born Aug. 24, 1912, in Monarch, W.Va., to Benjamin F. and Emma Kissinger Ratcliff, she married George E. Scoggins on May 8, 1940, in Charlottesville, Va. He died Feb. 1, 1975, in Peoria. One daughter, Anita Scoggins, and four brothers also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Emma Jean Tavana of Washington; one sister, Gertrude Coleman of Huntington, W.Va.; three grandchildren.

She worked at Caterpillar Inc. for many years, retiring in 1978 as head secretary of the accounting department.

She was a member of Peoria Christian Women's Club and the Caterpillar Girls Club. She attended Grace Presbyterian Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home, where visitation will be one hour earlier. Entombment will be in American Mausoleum.

SPRINGFIELD - Jesse A. Scoggins, 69, of Springfield died Monday, March 13, 2006, at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 7, 1936, in St. Louis, the son of Earl and Evelyn Dickey Scoggins. He married Patricia "Pat" Alessandrini in 1956.

Mr. Scoggins retired as a truck driver after 47 years and most recently worked for ABF Trucking. He was a member of St. Cabrini Church and was a Teamster. He was president and coach of the Dale Tuebner Little League and coached in the late 1960s and 1970s for St. Cabrini School.

Survivors: wife, Patricia; three sons, Terry (wife, Sue), Kevin (wife, Barbara) and Tim (wife, Liz) Scoggins, all of Springfield; daughter, Mari Kay (husband, Joe) Hannah of Kernersville, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; mother, Evelyn Scoggins-Ryon of Springfield; brother, Ed (wife, Barbara) Scoggins of Springfield; two aunts; an uncle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Friday, St. Cabrini Church, the Revs. Richard Chiola and John Titus officiating. Burial: Calvary Cemetery.
