Evelyn R. Christensen, 102 years young, passed away on April 14, 2006, in Yuma, Arizona. She spent her last few years at Paradise Oasis, under the loving care of Hospice of Yuma.
She was born December 31, 1903, in Coalville, Utah. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Evelyn retired from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where she was employed as the Chief Operator of the BYU telephone switchboard for 20 years.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Jeanene (Del) Schreiber; six grandchildren: Jeff (Rose Mary) Schreiber, San Diego, CA; Dellene (Mark) Stonehocker, Salt Lake City, UT; Leslie Schreiber, Longmont, CO; Tracy (Greg) Anderson, Goodyear, AZ; Mindy (Jim) McGowan, Salt Lake City, UT; Kristie (Shane) Scroggin, Yuma, AZ; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Christensen; and son, Robert Christensen.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2006, 7-8 p.m., at Berg Mortuary located at 185 E. Center Street, Provo, UT. At Evelyn's request, there will be no funeral. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on April 19, 2006, at Orem Cemetery, 1520 N. 800 East, Orem, Utah.
