Neva Lucille Shultz Scroggins, 91, of Athens, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at Ft. Sanders ParkWest Medical Center in Knoxville.
A native and resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Nathaniel Edward and Mollie Wade Shultz. She was a former resident of Kingsport, Johnson City, Jasper, Jefferson City and Elizabethton, where her husband, the Rev. Roy Edward Scroggins [19007], who preceded her in death on May 24, 1993, had served as pastor in the United Methodist Church of the Holston Conference. She was a member of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church and was an active volunteer with the Heritage Quilt Guild of the McMinn County Living Heritage Museum.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Nola Lawson [19906] and Howard Hubbard and Jo [21673] and Bob Blount [26629], all of Athens; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Don Scroggins [21672] of Knoxville, and R.E. Jr. [26166] and Marie Scroggins [26167] of Rising Sun, Md.; two sisters, Ruth Monroe of Decatur, and Ina Coleman of Athens; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Hubble and the Rev. Ogle Wattenbarger officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in McMinn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Mike Blount, Mark Blount, Eric Lawson, Ralph Jarvis, Donald Jarvis and Jason Robertson.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
