Robert H. McCormick 1921 - 2009

Robert H. McCormick, 88, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at his home. He was born July 8, 1921 in Aurora, IL. Robert attended Sacred Heart Grade School and Church, graduated from Marmion Military Academy and also attended North Central College. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, the Third Ward Club, the V.F.W. Post #7452 in Montgomery, the Knights of Columbus #736, the L.O.O.M. #400, and was an Army veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart during World War II. Survivors include four children, Kay Wells of Morristown, TN, Clarence "Skip" (Bonnie) McCormick of Tucson, AZ, Judith [34469] (Rollie) [34435] Scroggins of Aurora and Pat (Jim) Braun of Bristol, IL; 14 grandchildren, Shawn, Molly, Carson, Caitlyn, Jaeson, Jeffrey, Nicole (John Paul), Chad (Jennifer), Amanda, Kelly, Paula, Roger, Mary and Susie; 13 great-grandchildren; two step-brothers, Charles B. (Mary Claire) McCormick and Edward L. (Marilyn) McCormick; his step-sister, Mary (Gregory) Langlotz; several nieces and nephews; and his long time friend, Jim Nichol. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Marie "Kay" McCormick [47242] in August 2008; his son, Michael P. McCormick in 2004; his special aunt and uncle, Marguerite and Frank Biltgen; his parents, Charles and Bernice (Howard) McCormick; and his cousin, Sally Richardson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. Fr. David R. Engbarth will officiate. Private interment services will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 8:30 AM until the Mass hour at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 650 S. Fifth St., Aurora.
