Bruce C. "Coach" Scroggins, age 59, of Clovis, NM, died Sunday, July 26, 2009, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, MI. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, August 2, 2009, at Muffley Funeral Home, Inc. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, August 3, 2009, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Harry Riser and Father Sotero Sena officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers include Eric Roanhaus, Eddie Kilmer, Bobby Tanner, Dale Fullerton, Tony Epps, and Pat Dixon. Honorary pallbearers will be all other coaches, former athletes, and students. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gattis Junior High Scholarship Fund, c/o Clovis Schools, 1009 N. Main Street, Clovis, NM 88101.
Bruce was born December 14, 1949, to Billy Ray and Caroline Estelle (Wilcox) Scroggins in Washington, DC. He graduated from Claude High School in 1968, received his Bachelor Degree from West Texas State University, and his Masters Degree from ENMU. He was a Teacher and a Coach for the public Schools starting at Gattis Jr. High 1973 to 1988, Texico 1989-92, Alamogordo 1992-98, Bovina, TX, 1998-02, Grandview, TX, in 2003, and back to Clovis High in 2004. He was a member of the Clovis/Portales Elks Lodge, NM Athletic Coaches Association, and served in the NM National Guard where he was called to Prison Riot in Santa Fe. Bruce enjoyed fishing, golfing, and gardening. His true passion was the Clovis Wildcats.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo; eight children, Jennifer (Cash) McKinney of Clovis, NM, Stephanie (Jay) Bertsch of Washington, DC, Amanda (Aaron) Boydstun of Clovis, NM, Rob Fleet of Bellaire, MI, Aaron (Hilary) Fleet of Tucson, AZ, Kelcey Scroggins of Denton, TX, K'Leigh (Joseph) Ware of Coppell, TX, and Chad (K.C.) Scroggins of Houston, TX; two brothers, Kent (Terry) Scroggins of Wayside, TX, and Bill (Linda) Scroggins of Amarillo, TX; two sisters, Katrina (Ned) Tuttle of Houston, TX, and Kiska (Gene) Boswell of Enterprise, AL; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-dad, C.D. Red Rogers, and son-in-law, Chad Smith.

Bruce C. Scroggins, 59, of Clovis, died Sunday, July 26, 2009, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Mich.
He was born Dec. 14, 1949, in Washington, D.C.
He was a teacher and a coach.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo; five daughters; Jennifer McKinney, Stephanie Bertsch, Amanda Boydstun, Kelcey Scroggins and K'Leigh Ware; and three sons, Rob Fleet, Aaron Fleet and Chad Scroggins.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.

Coach Scroggins was my sociology teacher at grandview highschool- no words can convey what this man meant to me. he had such a great impact on my life. he will be deeply missed.
I was in the same sociology class, he had an impact on us all, and everyone in that class formed a bond and remained friends after highschool. He was a truly good man...
He was my coach, taught us all values of life and will be missed.
