MARIE S. DUFFY, age 85, passed away November 16, 2009. She was a life-long devoted Houstonian, born March 25, 1924 to the late Fred and Avis Scroggins. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, and brother James K. Scroggins. She is survived by her loving husband, Austin R. Duffy; her beloved daughter, Amanda Mabry and husband Don of Shreveport, LA; sister, Fredda Chapman and husband Henry; sister-in-law, Geraldine Scroggins of Charlotte, NC; and several loving nieces and nephews. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 21, 2009, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 6700 Ferris, Bellaire. Entombment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

Barbara Jean Goodall, age 75, of Joplin, Mo., passed away Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at St. John's Regional Medical Center following an illness. She was born May 2, 1934, in Carrollton, Ill., to Raymond E. and Wilba Mae Scroggins. She moved to Joplin, in 1974, from Carrollton. Barbara worked at Consumers Market for 12 years. She attended the Gateway Church, where she was active in youth activities and preparing meals. Barbara enjoyed quilting, playing bridge and spending time with family and friends. She married Robert E. Goodall on Jan. 31, 1952. He survives at the home. Additional survivors include four sons, Robert Goodall Jr. and wife, Annette, William Goodall and wife, Carolyn, Gordon Goodall and Jeff Goodall and wife, Susie; three daughters, Cara Odle and husband, Bob, Renee Bowman and husband, Stan and Minda Cowan and husband, Michael; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Goodall; one granddaughter, Corey Shea Goodall; and two brothers, Raymond and Wayne Scroggins. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. The Rev. Freddie Franks and Gordon Goodall will officiate. Burial will be in the Macedonia Cemetery, near Stella, Mo. The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday evening. He is survived by his parents, Guy [49661] & Mae [49667] Scroggin of San Antonio; his sister and brother-in-law, Mike and Jeanie [49669] Poppell of Sabinal, also 3 nieces; 1 great niece and 1 great nephew. He graduated from Lee High in 1976 and from S.W. Texas State University in 1981. He was so loved and will be missed very much. May he rest in eternal peace. It was Guy's wish to be cremated, and a private memorial has been held.

He was born June 29, 1926, in Boxley, AR, to the late Marion Franklin [4904] and Jenny (Villines) [4903] Scroggins. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Anna Fern (Wishon) Scroggins [18890]. He retired after 32 years with Eby Construction and was an avid fisherman. He is survived by a son, Jackie Ray Scroggins [18891] and wife, Val [18892] of Wichita, Kansas; daughter, Pattie Jean Merrill [18893] and husband, Charles [18894] of Pine Bluff; son, Joe Scroggins [18895] and wife Lynn [18896] of Morrilton; son, Duel Scroggins [18897] of Little Rock; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service was held on Monday, November 2, at Beechwoods Cemetery in Ponca, AR, Rev. Donnie Villines officiated with Jerry and Rosie Bryant assisting.  C. A. "Buck" Buchanan (aka Dad, Grandpa, and Pawpaws) went to be with his heavenly Father and loving wife, Mary, on Thursday, October 29, 2009. He was one of four children, born July 15, 1914, to Claude and Elizabeth Mae (Marler) Buchanan on the family farm in Washita County, OK. The family later relocated to Hobart, OK, where he graduated high school. He attended Harding Christian University when it was located in Morrillton, AR. While in Morrillton he met Mary Lee Scroggin. They were married August 13, 1936. Returning to Hobart, OK, Buck began his business career as manager of T.G.&Y., until he was drafted into the Navy in January, 1944. He was assigned to travel on the USS Noordam under the command of Admiral Nimatz in route to his duty station at Alea Naval Base in Honolulu, HI. After 6 weeks of boot camp upon arrival in Hawaii, he entered Com. Ser. Pac. (Command Service in the Pacific), where he was a photographer put in charge of "V" mail, putting all incoming and outgoing mail on microfilm then reprinting every piece of mail, even his personal mail, before delivery to the addressees. He received an honorable discharge on November 11, 1945. He returned to his family in Arkansas, then relocated them back to Hobart, OK and resumed employment with T.G.&Y. The family lived in Oklahoma City and Memphis, TN while still serving as a store manager. Buck eventually was promoted to Vice-President of Leasing at the T.G.&Y. Corporate office, retiring in 1979. After retirement, Buck continued his business career when he and his wife founded MACABCO, Inc. Through MACABCO Buck participated in part ownership of shopping center re-development at Perry Plaza in Perry OK, residential and townhouse development of the Brentwood Addition of Edmond, OK, and Brentwood Office Park in Edmond, OK. Buck was also instrumental in partnering and donating land for Edmond's original YMCA on Rankin in Edmond, OK. Buck also used his knowledge and experience from his business career while serving as a member and chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Oklahoma Christian Investment Corporation (OCIC), a vital force for the growth and development of Oklahoma Christian University of Science and Arts in Oklahoma City. As a director of OCIC, Buck was instrumental in the University's business development process, including construction of buildings on campus, residential areas, shopping centers (Eagle Crest Addition and Shopping Center); and Tealridge Retirement Center in Oklahoma City adjacent to Oklahoma Christian (referred to as "OC" within the family). As a friend, donor, and mentor to OC and numerous OC presidents, faculty and staff members, Buck partnered with former university president, Dr. James O. Baird, to develop a school in South Korea. Upon obtaining the blessing and approval of the South Korean government, OC instructors were sent to the school to teach English. On March 29, 1996, The University honored Buck and Mary Buchanan for their longtime involvement and support. In December, 2004, Buck received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from OC. In addition, Buck holds the distinction of being the oldest student to ever enroll for classes at OC for the fall semester of 2007. With the assistance of one of his sons as driver to and from the campus, Buck was warmly greeted by faculty, staff and fellow students as he drove his electric wheelchair from class to class. Buck was an ardent fan of the OC Eagles Basketball Program; and as an Eagles Booster Club member, maintained 2-4 season tickets through the 2007 season. Mr. Buchanan served as an elder at 31st and Penn Church of Christ in Oklahoma City, White Station Church of Christ in Memphis, TN, and was one of a small group who founded College Church of Christ in Oklahoma City, now known as Memorial Road Church of Christ, where he was a Charter Member and one of the first three original elders. Buck's philosophy regarding church responsibilities was the practice of unity and focus on next-door to worldwide missions. Prior to his moving into Gran Gran's Nursing Home in Yukon, OK, he was advising and encouraging the "planting" of the Oakdale Church of Christ in OKC. He resigned as an elder at Memorial Road in 2005 after his wife passed in December, 2004. Buck was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Lee Scroggin Buchanan [42819]; one sister, Gladys Merle Buchanan; one brother, J. B. Buchanan; and one granddaughter, April Anjeanette Buchanan. He is survived by a brother, Glen Buchanan of Benton, AR; a sister, Mae Laverne Back, of McLean, TX, sister in-law, Helen Allison and husband J.H. of Morrilton, AR; sons: Ancel Lee Buchanan and wife, Judy, of Smyrna, GA; Kenneth R. Buchanan and wife, Peggy of Oklahoma City; Albert Brent Buchanan and wife, Helga of DeLand, FL; James Baxter "Jim" Buchanan and wife, Marilyn, of Edmond, OK; and Robert Edwin "Eddie" Buchanan and wife, Kathy, of Broken Arrow, OK; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of business, church and university friends.  Mrs. Dolores Kay James Scroggin, age 65, of Dupont, Indiana, entered this life on July 31, 1944, in Scott County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Roy Vincent & Laura Eliza Layman James, both of whom preceded her in death. She was raised in Jennings County and was a 1962, graduate of Dupont High School. She attended classes for further education through her church. She was united in marriage on Sept. 6, 1963 in Commiskey to Ronald T. Scroggin. To this union arrived three sons to bless their home. The family resided in Jennings County for 21 years then moving to the Dupont Community where they resided the rest of her life. She was a faithful member of the Centerville Baptist Church near Lovett, Indiana. She enjoyed reading and studying her Bible, she loved traveling especially on train trips, working in her flowers, mowing her lawn , collecting plates and bottles. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Dolores died Sunday, October 25, 2009 at 7:25 a.m. at her home near Dupont, Indiana.

After retirement Sister continued her prayer ministry at St. Dominic Villa. Sister's body will be welcomed at St. Dominic Villa, 6504 Almeda Road, on Wednesday, October 21, at 4:00 p.m. Vigil of Christian Burial is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, October 22, at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Isidore Vicente, O.P., presiding. All services are at St. Dominic Villa. Lela Estell Hammons Scroggins, age 87, died October 12, 2009 at MS Baptist Health Center in Jackson, Mississippi.

She was born June 24, 1922 in Wesson, MS to Hattie Delilah Harrison and Eugene Newton Hammons. Lela was a descendant of the Daniel Beasley family, listed in the first families of Mississippi, who came to Mississippi in 1830 from Darlington County, South Carolina and settled in Simpson County. She grew up in Wesson, MS until her family moved to Yazoo County, MS, where she met her husband, married, and later moved to Hinds County. Lela was married for 59 years to Bob Scroggins [37239], a Jackson homebuilder, who predeceased her in 1996. She lived in Jackson for over 50 years, before moving to The Hills of Crossgates in Rankin County. Lela and Bob maintained a large vegetable garden for the benefit of family, friends, neighbors, and the needy. Lela and Bob were members of the Jackson Rose Society and the Mississippi Rose Society. Their rose garden contained hundreds of roses, having raised them for competition, winning hundreds of blue ribbons. Lela and Bob donated their roses to civic organizations and churches, and always had fresh bouquets for their many friends. After Bob died, Lela moved to The Waterford Retirement Home for several years and lived at Highland Home Nursing Home for the past two years. Lela's hobbies included crossword puzzles, crochet, stitchery (embroidery and crewel), and spending time with her large family.

Lela is survived by her four children: Bobbie Bryan (Bob) of Stillwater, OK; Midge Samsel (Howard) of Brandon, MS; Roland Scroggins (Annette) of Brandon, MS; and Billie Thompson (Tommy) of Brandon, MS. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren: Steve Bryant (Carol) of Madison, MS; Michelle Gilliland (Jud) of Dallas, TX; Gina Nichols (John) of Plano, TX; Lisa Garza of San Antonio, TX; Stacy Ramsey of Madison, MS; Kimberly Gordon (Charlie) of Tyler, TX; Dawn McAuley (Mac) of Pontotoc, MS; Paige Sessums (Craig) of Jackson, MS; Leanne Pettit (Matt) of Irving, TX; Tiffiney Henderson (Evan) of Brandon, MS; Kristin Kerley (Kevin) of Meridian, MS; Cory Thompson (Shauna) of Brandon, MS; and Josh Thompson (Loni) of Austin, TX. Lela is survived by 31 great-grandchildren and her brother and sister-in-law, Luther and Delores Hammons of Madison, MS; sister-in-law, Edna Scroggins of Jackson, MS; sister-in-law, Rebecca Hammons of Yazoo City, MS; and brother-in-law, John Herrington, of Pineville, LA; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Lela was predeceased by her brothers, John Earl Hammons, Clarence Hammons, W.D. Hammons, and her sisters, Lula Mae Ashley Cook, Flora Belle Harrison, Mary Emma Wiggins, Beatrice Whittington, and Burnice Hammons. Lela was a member of Crossgates Baptist Church.

Services will be at 2pm Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at Lakewood Funeral Home chapel, with visitation from after 12 noon Wednesday, interment will follow services in Lakewood Memorial Park.

Memorials can be made to Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon, MS. The family wishes to thank all of the nurses and aides on Unit B at Highland Home, Susan and Allison (her social workers), Carolyn (her beautician), Stephanie (her manicurist), and sends love to Lela's best friend, Bernice Thornton, at Highland Home. Terry Dean Scroggins of Frostproof passed away Monday, October 5, 2009 at his residence.

He was born December 23, 1960 in Lake Wales to Jerrell Dean and Betty Ann (Wise) Scroggins; and moved to Frostproof from Phoenix, AZ in 1973. He was self-employed as a truck driver, and is of the Pentecostal faith. He loved drag racing, reading western books, watching western movies and watching wrestling.

Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Scroggins Saiz. Survivors include his wife Pamela Scroggins, daughters, Jennifer Lynn McElroy of Alabama, Betty Fay Marie Scroggins of Frostproof, Misty Michelle Kirk of Frostproof; sons, Thomas Earl Scroggins of Graceville, FL, Bama Wayne Scroggins of Graceville, FL, Mark Anthony Poe of Frostproof, Carlos Richard Poe of Frostproof; brothers, Tommy Scroggins of Phonix City, AL, Kerry Dale Scroggins of Samson, AL, Mark Saiz of Frostproof, Robin Saiz of Jupiter, FL; and 12 grandchildren.

Cynthia loved to travel, her favorite place being Sedona, AZ and another love of hers was dogs. Ira Thomas "Mr. Tom" McManus, age 82, of Long Beach, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 30, 2009.

He was born and raised in Crystal Springs, MS. He was a graduate of Crystal Springs High School. He joined the Navy and served during World War II in the Asia Pacific. He was a life member of Eddie Blake V.F.W. Post #3937, Long Beach, MS. He also served as Commander of Robert C. Nail Post 687, Jackson, MS and Post 407 DeLisle.

He had 57 years as a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 903, Gulfport, MS, where he served one term as president.

He was a member of Shepherds Way Church, Long Beach, MS. He dearly loved his church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Lee McManus and Mary Mertie McManus; 2 brothers, Walter and James McManus; stepdaughter, Barbara Nell Scroggins [43764]; and step-grandson, Tom Garcia; and son-in-law, Cleveland (Bud) Garcia.

He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Olene W. McManus of Long Beach; daughter, Linda Garcia of Gulfport; son Thomas Gilbert McManus; grandson, Thomas Lee McManus; granddaughters, Crystal Shrmetta and her husband Ken Shrmetta, Misty Lee McManus; great grandchildren, Kadin, Katelynn, Timothy and Luke; step-grandchildren, Donald Griffin Scroggins, Jr. [46401], Kenneth W. He loved gardening and fishing and once said he asked God for a little corner of Adam and Eve's garden.

Martel Scroggin, a retired advertising agency executive and novelist, died September 20, 2009, at home of cancer. He was 80.

Scroggin, a member of Crook County High Schools Class of 1948, had a ranch east of Prineville on the Ochoco Ranger Station Road. He wrote three fiction-based-on -fact book about the history and development of Central Oregon. All three books; Wasco, The Moonlighters, and The Sheepshooters, were taped and distributed by the National Library and the Library of Congress for the blind and physically handicapped. The Sheepshooters was the first novel written that covered the violent cattle-sheep wars that ran from 1886 to 1906.

He started his advertising career in San Francisco with Batten, Barton, Durstine and Osborn, where he was the account executive for the U.S. Steel and Pacific Gas & Electric accounts. In 1958, he left BBDO to become a co-founder of Allen, De St. Maurice & Scroggin. Nine years later, he founded the agency that was to become Scroggin & Fisher, handling such accounts as the San Francisco Examiner, Chevron, China Airlines, Fairchild semiconductor, Otis and NEC corporation. After his retirement, his company was acquired by Batten, Barton, Durstine & Osborn, the ad agency where he got his start.

Scroggin served on the board of directors of the Transworld Advertising Agency Network (TAAN), a group of agencies throughout the world He became the only chairman in the history of this organization to be re-elected for four consecutive terms and travelled extensively - often with his family - to help build the total membership to 40 worldwide members.

He received a degree in Journalism from the University of Oregon, where he was president of his fraternity, Phi Kappa Sigma, and was a Korean War veteran. He served on the steering committee for the Friends of Radiology at Stanford, and was an active member of The Family Club and the Crook County Historical Society. Other memberships included the Hoover Institution, BPOE and Western Writers of America.

His wife, Gretchen, preceded him in death in 1989. He is survived by his daughters, Leslie and Wendy, a son, Jeff, and five grandchildren.

Larry was born Sept. 4, 1962, in Benton to Vernon Macy Scroggins [49616] and Virginia Mae Rickford [49617] Scroggins . He was a graduate of Hazen High School and was an apartment complex manager.

He was preceded in death by twin infant sisters, Kathy and Kathleen Scroggins ; and his grandparents, Lonnie [43950] and Minnie Scroggins of Humphrey and Eula and Marvin Rickford of Benton.

Survivors are his sons, Zackary Logan Scroggins [49618] and Justin Macy Scroggins [49619] of Reydel and Brandon Rollins of Stuttgart; his parents, Vernon and Virginia Scroggins of Reydel; brother, Teddy [49620] Scroggins of Benton; and sister, Karen Scroggins [49621] of Hazen.

Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Larry Bishop, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Turpin Funeral Home chapel with burial in Frazier Cemetery.

Edna Frances Scroggins, age 92, left us to be with the Lord on September 15, 2009. There will be a viewing at Benson Funeral Home in Moses Lake on Friday, September 18, 2009 from 5p.m- 8 pm. A service will be held for her on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the Nazarene Church in Royal City at noon. She is survived by her children, Wayne (Helen) Scroggins of Royal City, WA; Ronnie (Erma) Scoggins of Cresent OR; Roger (Jean) Scroggins of Royal City, WA; Gary (Maryln) Scroggins of Royal City, WA; Joyce (Ronnie) Smith of Lacey, WA. Eleven grandchildren: Julie, Cheryl, Mike, Greg, Tom, Jeanna, Karen, Jeff, Jason, Marc and Stacie. Thirty great-grandchildren: Melanie, Matt, Heather, Kaylee, Jeremy, Josh, Kyle, Kori, Sarah, Bo, Nick, Mickenzie, Garrett, Katrina, Gregory, Jon, Jerrid, Jordan, Jake, Ashlee, Tim, Ethan, Kayla, Jaimen, Louden, Madyn, Breanne, Caitlin,and Jack. Albert Zachery "A.Z." Scroggins , age 82, of Haskell, passed away Friday, Sept. 11, 2009.

He was born June 30, 1927, in Birdie, Ark. Mr. Scroggins was a heavy equipment operator for Horner Sand and Gravel. He was preceded in death by his wife, June Scroggins , who died in 1988. Mr. Scroggins was also preceded in death by his parents, Ollie [7301] and Elsie Scroggins [7468]; his special friend and life partner, Cecilla Vick; three brothers, Floyd [?], Wilborn [35635] and Roy Scroggins [35416]; and three sisters, Arvella Schimmels [?], Louella Dahy [35720] and Retha Blaylock [35724].

He is survived by two stepsons, Gene Cullins of Malvern and Jim Head of Benton; stepdaughter, Amy Holley of Malvern; three brothers, Henry [35718] and O.C. Scroggins [35717], both of Benton and Clyde Scroggins [35716] of Hope; sister, Lela Brents [35722] of Benton; three half sisters, Mabel, Helen and Faye; grandson, Phillip Booher; and two great-grandsons, Tallon Brantle Booher and Avan Adam Booher.

Patricia Scroggins Ruden of Shorewood, Ill., passed away at Edward Hospital in Naperville, Ill., Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, after a brief battle with cancer. She was 71. Pat was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and participated in clubs and organizations within the church, including the Altar Guild. She was also involved with the Home Economics Club of Joliet for many years. Previously, she worked for Northern Illinois Gas Co. in the home economics department, which included her portraying "Penny Flame" at many seminars and trade shows.

Pat worked alongside her husband, Don, at Expert Optics in Shorewood for over 25 years. She enjoyed traveling throughout the world and vacationing with family in Florida. Her nine grandchildren were her pride and joy. Pat was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Donald Ruden; two sons, Eric Ruden and wife, Brenda of Annapolis, Md., and Greg Ruden and wife, Anne of Naperville, Ill.; a daughter, Jennifer Madson and husband, Joe of Naperville, Ill.; her mother, Louise Taylor Scroggins; and one brother, James Scroggins and wife, Lou, all of Van Buren. She is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan and Lois Demos, Norma Larson, Barbara Nurczyk, Ron and Toni Ruden; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, G.W. Scroggins of Van Buren.

Funeral services were held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 412 E. Benton St., on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at 10 a.m., under the direction of Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home of Joliet, Ill.

PRESSLEY, SR. Mr. Garland Eugene "Buddy" Pressley, Sr.- born May 13, 1935, a native of Fayette, Alabama and long-time resident of Mobile, AL, died August 28, 2009, at a local nursing home after an extended illness with Alzheimer's Disease. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, P.E. "Jack" Pressley and Hazel Sykes Pressley, daughter, LaDonna Jean Pressley, sister, Hazel Catherine Pressley, and brother, Charles Franklin Pressley. He leaves to mourn his going home, his loving wife of 52 years, Janice Maloy Pressley, two daughters, DeRhonda Pressley Arnold, Dawn Pressley McLean, one son, Garland Eugene Pressley, Jr. (Lori). Five precious granddaughters, Jessica Marie Arnold, Rikki Leigh Arnold Scroggins (Eric), Ereka Janese Pressley, Kaylie Marie McLean, Kaysie Anne McLean and one beloved grandson, Alex Keenan Pressley, sister, Doris Jean Pressley Pugh(Kirkland), and brother, James Edward "Jimmy" Pressley. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives who loved and respected him. Buddy made his profession-of-faith and was baptized at Oakdale Baptist Church where he actively served for many years, and presently being a member of Woodridge Baptist Church. He graduated from Murphy High School, Class of 1953. After more than 27 years of service to the citizens of Mobile, he retired from the City of Mobile Fire Department as a Fire-Fighter/Driver and Chief-Aid and as a member of International Association of Firefighters Union-Local 1349. He served 8 years in HQ & HQ Co.2nd BN. 200th Infantry, 31st (Dixie) Division National Guard. Buddy was very active in fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball, playing for over 42 years. The teams he played for included Oakdale Baptist Church, Woodbridge Baptist Church, Mobile Fire and Rescue Department and various local businesses. During this time he was on numerous league championship teams, participating in state and national competitions. His individual awards are too numerous to mention. He umpired for 8 years on his free time. Buddy was the first City of Mobile Fireman to be honored and inducted into the Mobile Softball Hall of Fame on July 1, 1993. On September 4, 2009 a visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on September 4, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. in Pine Crest Cemetery with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Woodridge Baptist Church Building Fund or the Alzheimer's Treatment and Research Center. She is survived by beloved daughter, Dianne Reiser and son-in-law Sam Reiser, daughter-in-law Ann Reddy, 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. ADAMS, DANIEL EUGENE "Dan", 61, of Apopka, FL. He was a former resident of Madison and graduated in 1966. He was inducted into the United States Army on July 19, 1966 at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He rose to the rank of Sergeant serving in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on July 18, 1972 from St. Louis, MO receiving the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medals with Sixty Device. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the 173rd Air Bourne Division and was awarded the Bronze Star and The Purple Heart Medals. He was united in marriage to Judy D. Crowe in Apopka, FL on June 5, 1992. He was a self employed owner and operator of D & E Fernery in Apopka, FL. He had resided in Florida since 1969. He attended the Round Lake Christian Church in Mt. Dora, FL. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his grandson and grandchildren, they were the love of his life. Daniel died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009 at 3:56 p.m. at the Florida South Hospital in Apopka, FL. Dan will be missed by his loving wife Judy Crowe Adams of Apopka, FL; his daughter, Andrea Ruth and her husband Ryan, of Mt. Dora, FL; and his grandchildren, Tyler, Tessa and Molly; his daughter Carol Elburg and her husband Mark of Madison, IN and his grandson, Michael; his son Sergeant First Class Daniel Eric Adams and his wife Rebecca of Ft. Janice Wesley Scroggins Janice Wesley Scroggins of Enterprise passed away Friday, August 21, 2009 at UAB. She was 60. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, August 24 at Sorrells Funeral Home with Rev. J.L. Wesley officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery wi-th Sorrells Funeral Home of Enterprise directing. Viola Davis, 89, of Nacogdoches, passed away peacefully Friday, August 14, 2009, in Nacogdoches, Texas. A mass of Christian burial service will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Monsignor James E. Young officiating. The burial will follow in Moral Cemetery. Viola was born in Nacogdoches, Texas, on February 14, 1920, the daughter of the late Andrew and Willie (Manchaca) Lozano. She was a devout Christian woman, attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and contributed to many causes as a behind-the-scenes benefactor; as long as she was able she saw that her family grave sites were well tended. Viola loved life, family gatherings, cooking (especially her chicken & dumplings), and she enjoyed eating. She worked as a machine operator at McGraw-Edison/Cooper Industries until her retirement. Then, her last years were spent at Willowbrook Nursing Home, where she was a happy resident and made many special friends. Viola is survived by a sister, Ellen "Mickey" Barnett [26373] of Nacogdoches; nieces, Donna Deason and husband, Robert, Deborah Horton [48866] and husband, Mike, Teresa Bryan and husband, John, Phyllis LaRue [48868], all of Nacogdoches, Vicki Wright and husband, Floyd of Lufkin, Texas, Nancy Hudgins [15256] and husband, Bud [15257] of Gilmer, Texas and Annette Embler [48867] and husband, Walter of Beaumont, Texas. She is also survived by nephews, Warren C. Scroggins, Jr. [35540], Dennis Scroggins ], Doyle Scroggins and wife, Wanda, Blane Scroggins [34183] and wife, Dorothy [34184] all of Nacogdoches, Jim Burns and Joe Burns, both of Houston, Texas and many other relatives and friends. Viola was loved and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, Andrew and Willie Lozano, Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Davis; two sons, Doyle Mack Davis and Charles Davis; a brother, Leon Lozano; and two sisters, Felma Burns and Marie Scroggins [48865]. Pallbearers will be Bobby Deason, Billy Deason, Jacob DeLoney, James Sanchez Jr., Colton Jernigan, Jamie Wright, John Wright and William Linder. BROOKLET, Ga. - Mr. Fred B. O'Berry, age 84, died on Thursday, August 13, 2009, at his residence. The LaGrange, Ga., native moved to Savannah with his family in 1928 then to the Bethesda Home for Boys with his brother after his father's death in 1934. Mr. O'Berry was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He lived for most of his life in Savannah working for the Chatham County Police Department, the Savannah Police Department and the Garden City Police Department. He was the owner and operator of O'Berry Bonding Company for 25 years and O'Berry Tire Company for 26 years. Mr. O'Berry moved to Bulloch County in 1973 before retiring in 1995. He was greatly loved by his wife and family. Mr. O'Berry was a believer who loved God and attended many churches in the area. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred B. and Bessie Webb O'Berry Sr.; and a brother, John William O'Berry.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Betty Whitaker O'Berry of Brooklet; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Frank Scroggin of Wilmington Island, Ga., and Lisa and Marvin Headley of Dacula, Ga.; a sister, Evelyn O'Berry Adams of Pooler; a sister-in-law, Margie O'Berry of Wilmington Island, Ga.; five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Black officiating and W.A. Edwards assisting.
Pallbearers will be Noel Forrester, Lamar Scroggins, Phil Scroggins, Tyler Scroggins, Caleb Scroggins, Phillip Scroggins, Joel Headley and Andrew Headley.
Burial will be in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

ENGLISH Mrs. Jeanette Scroggins English went to be with the Lord on August 10, 2009 at her residence in Jacksonville Florida. Graveside Funeral services for Mrs.English will be held Thursday, August 13th, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Glenwood Cemetery in Thomasaton, Ga. Mrs. English was born in Thomaston, Ga. on April 12th, 1916 and was a 1934 graduate of R.E. Lee High School. She was employed by the Ammunition Plant in Macon, Ga. during World War II. Mrs. English was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Thomaston early in life and later, as she and her family moved to Florida, she became an active member in the Presbyterian Church there as well. Mrs. English loved to work in her garden and with her flowers. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Earl English [38060], sisters, Ann [38065], Grace [], and Mary Kate [38066], brothers, Ben Scroggins [26285] and Hoyt Scroggins [] and also a grandson, Douglas English. Mrs. English is survived by her two sons, Mr. Robert "Bob" (Peggy) English of Jacksonville, Fl., and Mr. Timothy "Tim" (Lynn) English of San Antonio Texas; three grandsons, Bobby English, Steven English and Paul English.
