Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Claude "T.C." Boyer, 81, of Bastrop will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop with the Reverends Bubba Jordan and Alan Eppinette officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Thomas Claude Boyer was born May 27, 1927 in Arcadia to the late Emmett Boyer and Exer Scroggins [48861] Boyer. He died Sunday, May 3, 2009 at home surrounded by his family. Mr. Boyer was raised on a farm in Richland Parish. He married his wife, Willie Mae Ponder, 57 years ago and together they raised two daughters. He worked most of his life in the trucking buisness. In his younger years he was known as "Top-Cat" but he quickly became better known as "Big Pa" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the love of his life. In addition to his family "T.C." had two special friends; his two dogs, Ginger and Tarbaby. Mr. Boyer is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett Boyer and Exer Boyer; three brothers, Elton Boyer, Johnny Boyer and Ernest Boyer; and a sister, Lorene Pitts.

Mr. Boyer is survived by his wife, Willie Mae Boyer; his two daughters, Sheila Stamper and her husband, Gary and Pam Montgomery and her husband, Gene; four grandchildren, Tracy Powell and his wife, Denise, Shane Yates and his wife, Kim, Carol Perry and her husband, Benjy and Preston Yates; four great-grandchildren, Cole Perry, Hunter Perry, Luke Powell and Emme Yates; a sister, Narvis Robertson; and two sisters-in-laws, Julia Boyer and Vera Boyer.

Serving as pallbearers are Shane Yates, Preston Yates, Scott Stamper, Jimmy Ponder, Doug Ponder and Joe Robertson.

FLOYD P. HOUSE, 89, died Tuesday morning at St. Francis Hospital. He was a retired Cutting Plant Manager for Levi-Strauss in Morrilton, AR. He was born to Wesley and Nettie House at Prescott, AR one of 8 children. A World War II veteran, Floyd served in the 803rd Tank Destroyer Battalion in European Operations. Floyd was a member of Unity Lodge #95 and a 32?? member of the Scottish Rite with the honor of KCCH. He was a past member of the Morrilton, AR Lions Club. In 1998, Floyd moved back to Memphis to be near his family and joined Audubon Park Baptist Church. Floyd enjoyed meeting with his many friends at the Park/Getwell Coffee Group. He was an avid gardener and loved to work in the yard and help his neighbors. He loved to fish and cook, and was known as a great cake baker. He was predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters, his wife, Maurine Marchbanks House, and granddaughter, Amy Lee House. He is survived by a brother, Bobby L. House of Middleton, TN, a sister, Thelma Brown of West Memphis, AR, a son, Jerry House, and daughter-in-law, Sandra House, granddaughters, Kimberly House and Kristin House, a grandson, Kerry Scroggins, and a great-granddaughter, Sloane Montoya, a host of nieces and nephews, and many friends. Visitation will be April 30, 2009 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home, Poplar Chapel with a brief Masonic Memorial Service at 5:00 p.m. Services will be held on Friday, May 1, 2009, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Audubon Park Baptist Church, 4060 Park Avenue, with burial at Memphis Memory Gardens. Floyd loved God, his country, his work, his friends and his family. His legacy of life, love and giving will live on in those that knew him. SILOAM SPRINGS &emdash; Elgie "Richard" Bryan, 94, of Siloam Springs died April 24, 2009, at Quail Ridge Living Center. He was born Dec. 17, 1914, in Hulbert, Okla., to Benjamin Harrison and Phoebe Scroggins Bryan. He married Virginia Finley Brown on Feb. 4, 1977, in Miami, Okla. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Kansas Masonic Lodge, VFW, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Erma Mae Chandler; two daughters, Patricia L. Gray and Joyce Ann Thompson.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia of the home; one daughter, Yvonne Holston "Booley" of Siloam Springs; one sister, Mary Parker of Edmond, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs.

SCROGGIN, CHARLES C., 72, died in his sleep on April 18, 2009 in Miami, Florida. Charlie was born November 12, 1936 and grew up in the farming communities of eastern Oregon. He was married to Suzanne Kinnel in 1956. Although he seemed destined to become a farmer, Charlie developed an early interest in aviation and became a licensed pilot. Following an apprenticeship flying small, propeller-driven charter aircraft, Charlie was hired by Pan American World Airways in 1966, where he began flying large, four-engine jets on Pan Am's worldwide routes. He was later selected as an instructor pilot and Check Pilot on both the Boeing 707 and the Boeing 747. When Pan Am sold its Pacific Routes to United Airlines, Charlie transferred to United and served as lead Captain and Check Pilot in United's transition to their newest Boeing aircraft, the 747-400. In that role he conducted the proving flights for United's ultra-long range flights from Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia. Charlie was a member of ParkOptimist, the support group for Parkinson Disease, from which he suffered during the last years of his life. Charlie is survived by his children, Jann S. Ruffo & Jeff Scroggin, his daughter-in-law, Kathy Scroggin, his grandchildren, Monica, Christina & Alexandra Scroggin, his sisters, Marilyn S. Brown & Jeanne S. Gilstrap, and his many devoted friends from coast to coast. He was preceded in death by his wife Sue in 1999, by his parents, and by his friend of more than three decades, "Bill." He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Mary.

Survivors include his loving wife Cheryl of the home; daughters, Mary Ann and husband Auti and their children, Jacob and Noah, Summer and husband Jason Boon and their children, William, Johnny and Brandon, Alisha and husband Richie Ream and their child Aidan. Megan’s Law violation

State police at Towanda said that charges against Danny Lee Scroggins, 25, of Sayre, were filed at the office of Magisterial District Justice Michael Shaw in March, charging him with three counts of failure to comply with registration of sexual offender requirements, a felony of the third degree.

Police said that Scroggins is accused of failing to verify his address with the Pennsylvania State Police as required in January 2008 and January 2009. It is also alleged that Scroggins failed to notify state police that he was leaving the commonwealth when he moved to Texas, police said.

Scroggins was apprehended on March 10 in Texas after an investigation of his whereabouts by the Pennsylvania State Police Fugitive Task Force and the U.S. Marshal’s Service, police said, and extradited back to Pennsylvania to answer to the charges.

Scroggins waived his right to a preliminary hearing, originally scheduled for April 7 at Shaw’s office, police said.

The case was transferred to the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas for further court action, police said.

SCROGGINS, CHELLIE MAE HEGLER, age 77, departed this life on April 8, 2009. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Max L. Scroggins [36735]; son, Mike Scroggins 48600]; and her daughter, Barbara Scroggins Partridge [48836]. She had seven grandchildren: Cindy LeZotte, Chad Scroggins [48598], Shepard Partridge, Andrea Dapkus, Erin Cain, Lindsey Petras and Lauren Deibert. She was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren. Chellie was also survived by her two brothers, John Henry Hegler and Willie Edward Hegler. Chellie was born in Josie, Alabama, on May 26, 1931, and spent her youth helping her family to farm. She had loving parents with whom she enjoyed a deep and close relationship. In 1948, she moved with her husband to Bessemer, AL and became a loving mother to her two children. Later, she was trained as a beautician, which afforded her the opportunity to offer her gifts of listening and compassion with many friends. She was a beauty and gave beauty to others and to the world around her with her talents in gardening, cooking, needlework, stained glass and mosaics. She loved animals, children and flowers. She was gentle, faithful and witty. Visitation will be Monday, April 13, from 12:30 - 2:00 PM at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Hueytown, AL. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Rick Patrick officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, we kindly request that any memorial you wish to make be given to missions in Nicaragua, where Chellie's granddaughter and her husband are serving. MR. SCROGGINS PRATTVILLE, Ala. - Technical Sgt. Rusty "Doc" Scroggins, USAF retired, 49, of Prattville died Saturday, March 21, 2009.

Funeral services are planned for Friday, March 27 at 2 p.m. at Riverview First Christian Church with the Revs. Frank Rittenberry and Allen Hollis officiating.

Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Valley with full military honors.

Mr. Scroggins will lie in state at the church Friday from noon until 2 p.m.

Mr. Scroggins is survived by his loving wife, Carol Scroggins; two devoted daughters, Crystal (Rodney) Price and Mechelle (Kirk) McKinley; one son, Jimmie Rogers; one sister, Candace (Carey) Wilkerson of Opelika; and one brother, Don Scroggins of Fairhope, Ala. Granville Preston Hamm "Hamm," "Papaw Bigs," 90, who resided with his daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Dean Akers of Catlettsburg, formerly of Kenova, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

He was born Jan. 22, 1919, in Rowan County, Ky., a son of the late Robert Preston and Sarah Emma (Hyatt) Hamm. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Tennie Gue Hamm.

He is survived by his seven children, Junior Hamm, Diane Arnett, Ernie Hamm, Sarah Akers, Kathy LeMaster, Mary Sue Bailey and Robert Hamm; 23 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Additional survivors include a brother, Oval Hamm, and two sisters, Dorothy Cox and Essie Gue Smith.

Mr. Hamm was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lorren Hamm, Arvil Glenn Hamm and Elmer Hamm, and two sisters, Maggie Elswick and Anna Myrtle Scroggins [36660].

He was a member of Catlettsburg Church of God and was a retired custodian of 30 years at First Baptist Church of Kenova. Mr. Hamm proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and spent seven months and three days as a POW at the Stalog 7A Camp in Mooseburg, Germany. He received the Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Marksman Medal. Mr. Hamm was a member of Kenova American Legion Post 93.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2009, at Catlettsburg Church of God with Bishop Steve Mays and Tom Mullins officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Kenova.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home in Ceredo.

Mr. Phillips graduated from Carrollton High School with the class of 1951. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict, stationed for two years in Alaska. He was a tractor driver at Olin Brass Mill in Alton for 41 years, retiring in 1993. He served as a Democratic precinct committeeman for approximately 25 years. He loved horse shows, playing cards and traveling to Branson, Mo., and Nashville, Tenn. He was a little league baseball coach for a number of years and was a member of the Berdan Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton, with burial at Belltown Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until time of services Saturday. EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - As the saying goes: desperate times call for desperate measures, but the items being stolen now aren't the usual high-ticket items.

Officials said the bad economy might be leading some to steal items worth only a few bucks.

"If you do this, most of the time you do get caught," EPD Detective Bob Wies said.

A rash of shoplifting cases in Vanderburgh County has landed several in jail, and the items stolen aren't the high priced items you'd imagine.

"They don't make a lot of money, they didn't think it was so wrong to take something that wasn't so expensive," Wies said.

Just Monday night, Vanderburgh County sheriff's deputies say two 18-year-old women from Owensboro stole a pair of $5 flip flops, some underwear and a bottle of Paris Hilton perfume from a Gordman's store.

"Whether it be 15-cents or $500, it's still a felony," Wies said.

One of the women, Haley Pippin said she made an adolescent decision, that she says will never happen again.

In another incident, 27-year-old Bridgette Scroggins, with her two-year-old daughter with her is accused of stealing a pair of shoes.

Deputies said she spit at them when they tried to arrest her.

Evansville police say 24-year-old Travis Thacker stole a radar detector from Target and 46-year- old Cal Bigbee stole a package of sausage from a Buy-Low store.

"Almost all the time the surveillance catches them and many cases we're notified before they even leave the store and they're arrested on the spot," Wies said.

14 News contacted the store managers of Gordman's, Best Buy and Target.

Many confirmed a rise in shoplifting, and blame it on the bad economy.

None would talk about their security policies on camera.

A security officer for Target said they do have a policy in place to identify and deal with shoplifting cases, cases that are unfortunately on the rise.

"If you've ever been convicted of a felony, you'll have a hard time getting a job in certain areas," Wies said. "It really carries with you."

Detectives say they encourage stores to press charges, and that means if you're caught, expect to face jail time, even if you take $5 flip flops.

On February 19, Michael J. Scroggins, 19, of Du Quoin was arrested by the Du Quoin Police Department on a Perry County warrant for burglar. Police believe that on or about November 12, 2008 Scroggins entered the Du Quoin High School and removed several musical instruments with a plan to pawn the instruments on January 19, 2009.

Sandra L. Bauer, 24, of Du Quoin was arrested on the same charges and was present with Scroggins when the burglary took place. Siefert Trucking Co. foiled the theft when they discovered the instruments hidden on their property near the railroad tracks and alerted police.

Scroggins remains in the Perry County Jail where he is being held on a $2,000 cash bond.

•Evelyn Scroggins, a 70-year-old Mink Point woman, is charged with assault with intent to kill after investigators say she shot at her neighbor and nearby houses on Capwing Drive, then barricaded herself in her home.

A neighbor reported seeing Scroggins firing shots into the air and in the direction of a nearby home. The man said he was returning to his home after warning a neighbor of Scroggins' behavior when the woman spotted him and opened fire. He dropped to the ground and remained there until deputies arrived.

Scroggins refused to answer the door for deputies and instead stuck the gun out the door, according to the Sheriff's Office. She quickly pulled the gun back in and closed the door.

Deputies made several unsuccessful attempts to lure the woman out of her home by phone and using a public address system. When that didn't work, the Sheriff's Office's SWAT team surrounded the home. Scroggins then surrendered.

She is being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center on $25,000 bond. Sunday's arrest was her only arrest in Beaufort County, according to the county's jail log.

No injuries or property damage was reported, and investigators say the motive for the shooting is still unknown.

Singleton Perry Funeral Home directing.

Lettie Roberta Scroggins, 76, of Salem, Ark., died Feb. 27, 2009, in Salem, Ark. She was born Feb. 12, 1933, in Brinkley, Ark., the daughter of the late Robert G. and Lettie M. (Jones) Benham.

She was a member of the Marianna Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by: a son, Rodney Scroggins and wife Sue of Yellville, Ark.; daughters, Gaye Passmore and husband Frank of Salem, Karen Sandefer and husband Jerry of Marianna, and Tina Combs and husband Robby of Las Vegas, Nev.; brothers, Johnnie Benham of Marianna, George, Billy, Donald Benham of Benton, Ark., and Herbert Benham of Malvern, Ark.; a sister, Naomi Burns of Mountain View; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Barney Calvin Scroggins; her parents, Robert and Lettie Benham; sisters, Violet Williams and Eva Morrison; and a brother, Robert Joseph Benham.

Funeral services were held March 3 at Roller Coffman Chapel in Mountain View with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Interment followed in Levisy Flat Cemetery in Mountain View.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Roller Coffman Funeral Home of Mountain View.

A Bakersfield couple was injured Wednesday afternoon in a weather-related accident on Highway 166 east of Maricopa.

California Highway Patrol spokesman Justin Olson said the accident happened when the couple’s car hit a flooded portion of the road, hydroplaned in the water, and overturned.

Betty Gail Scroggins, 56, was driving her 2008 Lexus eastbound on 166 a half-mile east of Pentland Road when the car hit the flooded roadway, Olson said.
Betty Scroggins was flown to Kern Medical Center with neck and back injuries.

Her husband, Jim Lee Scroggins, 55, was taken to KMC by ground ambulance with a facial laceration and back injuries.

MOUNT PULASKI - Robert D. Aylesworth, 70, of Mount Pulaski died at 7:24 a.m. Sunday, March 1, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 17, 1938, in Mount Pulaski, the son of Charles Leroy and Geneva Benzinger Aylesworth. He married Sharon Elaine Miller on Feb. 8, 1964, in Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Aylesworth retired as a custodian from Mount Pulaski Grade School after 31 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski. He was also a member of the Mount Pulaski Phoenix Fire Department for 27 years and was a founding member of the Mount Pulaski ambulance service.

Kentucky State Police say 81-year old Jeanette Scroggins was pulled from her Lawrenceburg home Sunday night after her granddaughter, 41-year old Cheryl Brogan set the fire in two places.
Arkansas police arrested Brogan last night on a traffic violation. They say she told police there that someone might want to check on her grandmother, claiming she'd set her home in Kentucky on fire.
Kentucky State Police had already launched an arson investigation and were looking for Brogan.
She will now be brought back to Kentucky to face an arson charge, but police say more charges are pending.
Police would not comment on a motive for the crime.

Mr. Jack M. Scroggins, 80, of Sunny Side, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at his residence.

Mr. Scroggins was born March 4, 1928, in Spalding County, son of the late Mack M. Scroggins [4471] and the late Addie Ballard Scroggins [4481]. He was a member of the Sunnyside First Baptist Church. Mr. Scroggins was a loving husband, daddy and granddaddy. Roscoe was a member of the Rodney Pike Church of God, and a lay minister. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing gospel music. 

Roscoe was a graduate of North Gallia High School and a graduate of the Gallipolis Business College. For 18 years, he was an accounting supervisor for the Galbraith Co. in Columbus. 

Roscoe was born on May 9, 1952, in Iaeger, W.Va., to the late Roscoe Browning and Irene Varney Browning, who survives in Gallipolis. 

On July 21, 1993, he married Vickie Roach Browning, and she survives along with two sons, Craig (Merideth) Browning of Sanger, Texas, and Adam (Karen) Allie of Georgetown, Ky.; one daughter, Melissa (Richard) Huffman of Gallipolis; six grandchildren, Chad Browning, Ashlee Huffman, R.J. Roscoe Browning, 56, of Bidwell, Ohio crossed over to be with his Lord on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Roscoe was a member of the Rodney Pike Church of God; and a lay minister. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing gospel music. Roscoe was a graduate of North Gallia High School and a graduate of the Gallipolis Business College. For eighteen years he was an accounting supervisor for the Galbraith Company in Columbus.

Roscoe was born on May 9, 1952 in Iaeger, West Virginia to the late Roscoe Browning and Irene Varney Browning who survives in Gallipolis. On July 21, 1993 he married Vickie Roach Browning and she survives along with two sons Craig (Merideth) Browning of Sanger, Texas and Adam (Karen) Allie of Georgetown, Kentucky, one daughter Melissa (Richard) Huffman of Gallipolis; six grandchildren Chad Browning, Ashlee Huffman, R.J. Huffman, Caleb P., Rhema Allie and Daniel Allie; his mother Irene Browning of Gallipolis, one sister Arlene (David) Holley of Gallipolis, five brothers, Donald (Janet) Browning of Gallipolis, David (Diann) Browning of Charlotte, NC, Bert (Judy) Browning of Gallipolis, James (Linda) Browning of Dayton, and Thomas (Casey) Scrogggins of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; two step brothers Derwin Scroggins, Dwight (Judy) Scroggins, one step sister Gail (Rueben) Squire all of Montgomery, Alabama; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Roscoe Browning.

Funeral services will be 11 am on Friday, February 20, 2009 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastors Ron Bynum and Bill Staten officiating. Burial will follow in Campaign Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, from 6-8 pm at Willis Funeral Home.

Kevin Wayne Vaughn, 38, of Jacksonville, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.

He was born July 16, 1970, in Springfield, the son of LeRoy Eugene and Karen Sue Jurgens Vaughn.

He is survived by his father, LeRoy (special friend, Barbara Louise Scroggins [37341]) Vaughn of Jacksonville; one brother, Robert Eugene Vaughn of Jacksonville; two sisters, Mandy Rice Reiley of Lincoln and Ashley Love Scroggins [42793] of Jacksonville; one nephew, Adynn Anthony Rion Scroggins [add] of Jacksonville; his roommate, John; and all of his Eisenhower Terrace family. He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandparents.

Kevin loved to go to Nichols Park to watch fireworks, watching Scooby Doo and The Lone Ranger and listening to music.

Dorine Scroggin DuPree, a former resident of the Stillwater area, passed away Feb. 12, 2009. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Kiowa to James Bethel Scroggin [1696] and Ethel Walder Scroggin
[1686].

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister, a son, David Jerry, and a granddaughter, Amanda.

Ms. DuPree is survived by her children, Lynda Hanna of Euless, Texas, Reesa Fannin of LaVernia, Texas, and a son, Danny DuPree of Willaford, Arkansas. Grandchildren include David DuPree, Amy Pickett, Scott Fannin, Andy Pickett and Derek DuPree. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, a sister, Josephine Conley, and numerous nieces and nephews.

69, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away on February 10, 2009, after a long and courageous struggle with her illness. Marlene was born on February 9, 1940 in Long Beach, California. She was a strong, elegant, graceful, generous and caring woman. Marlene studied dance from a young age and taught dance classes for many years. She moved from California to Show Low, Arizona in 1957 and married Jerry Reidhead--the love of her life. She worked as a bookkeeper for Reidhead Lumber Company. One of her many extraordinary accomplishments was as President of the Show Low Chamber of Commerce. She was well respected in her community and had many adoring friends and family. She had an unyielding devotion to her family and her friends. Marlene is survived by her husband, Jerry Reidhead of 52 years, and her daughters, Susanne Christensen and Patricia Reidhead (Sherry White) of Arizona and her grandson, Cody Christensen. She is further survived by her Mother, Virginia Clark [48675], her brother, and two sisters, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her father, Thomas Scroggins [48674], she was preceded in death by her son, Randy Reidhead. There will not be a formal funeral service. There will be a gathering of family and friends at her home in Scottsdale on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. to celebrate her remarkable life and many contributions. She will be deeply missed. In keeping with her wishes, she will be buried along side her son. Raquel Scarlett Bramblett Kimbral, 25, of Dahlonega died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at Emory Hospital following a short illness.

A lifelong resident of Lumpkin County, Raquel was a loving wife and mother who was a courageous example and inspiration to all that knew her. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jacob David Crane-Sullivan; grandfather, Charles Crane; and father-in-law, Tony Kimbral.

Surviving are her husband, Tony Kimbral, Dahlonega; son, Gabryel Tony Kimbral, Dahlonega; mother, Carolyn Crane, Dahlonega; father, Don Bramblett, Dawsonville; sister, Rachael Koren, Dawsonville; brothers, Luke Crane-Lopez, Dahlonega, Elijah Crane-Sullivan, Dahlonega and Dylan Bramblett, Flowery Branch; grandmothers, Vera Crane, Dahlonega and Eloise Bramblett, Dawsonville; grandparents-in-law, Thomas and Helen Scroggins, Cumming; and nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, at 3 p.m. at Mill Creek Baptist Church. Pastor Ricky Stepp and the Rev. Terry Garrett will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends after noon Friday and all day Saturday at the funeral home.

John "J.R." Richard Morrison, 79, of Bartlesville, passed away at 5:06 p.m. Friday February 6, in the Jane Phillips Medical Center. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Ochelata Methodist Church with Rev. Debbie Kerr officiating. Final committal rites will be accorded Mr. Morrison in the Ochelata Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 105 ceremonial detail. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home.

John "J.R." Richard Morrison was born on April 30, 1929 in Barnsdall, OK to Frank and Etta Mae Holland Morrison. John dedicated his life to his country from 1946-1968 serving in the U.S. Army. He served in three wars; WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He was awarded a Bronze Star and continued his military support by being a member of the VFW & American Legion. His children and grandchildren were of great joy to John. He also enjoyed the love and support of his brothers and sisters. He had many friends in the community and enjoyed their friendship.

John is survived by two daughters; Judy Scroggins and husband Dave of Oregon, MO, Debbie Partridge and husband Ray, retired U.S. Air Force E6 of Chapel Hill, TN. One son, John Morrison Jr. and wife Brenda of Houston, TX. Five grandchildren; Nicole, PFC Christopher Scroggins U.S. Marines, Justin, Andrea, Petty Officer 3rd Class Donna Kaye Scroggins U.S. Navy. One step-granddaughter Christina Parks. Three great grandchildren; Jaen, Jace and Ian. Two brothers; Frank Morrison and wife Peggy, Paul Morrison and wife Anita. Three sisters; Kathleen Fererro, Dixie and husband Ben Allen, Donna and husband Bill Belknap along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Pauline Morrison and Margie Wolbrett. Casket Bearers are Justin Partridge, Benne and John Allen, Mark Cammack, Christopher Scroggins and Bill Morrison. Honorary Casket Bearers are Ben Allen, Bill Belknap, Bill Trent, Jess Townsend, Don Adkins, Frank and Paul Morrison.

Mike graduated from Oregon City High School where he excelled in track. At the age of 20 he began his career with Precision Castparts, where he held multiple positions over the course of 42 years, including his last position at PCC Schlosser as human resources manager. After being married and divorced to Myrna Scroggins [], Mike married Christine Nettleton in 1996. In 2007 they moved to Redmond, where they enjoyed golfing and spending time with friends and family. Mike passed away on the morning of Feb. 2 after an eight-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Mike is survived by his wife, Christine; son, Jeff (Bobbi) Dew; stepdaughter, Francie (Andy) Engel; siblings, Susan, Jeannie, Pat, Gary and Brian; and five grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9 in Victorious Faith Family Church, 811 Center Street, Oregon City. Following the memorial service will be a celebration of life. Location to be announced at the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike's name may be made to Partners in Care (formerly Central Oregon Hospice) or the Oregon Humane Society.
