Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Claude "T.C." Boyer, 81, of Bastrop will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop with the Reverends Bubba Jordan and Alan Eppinette officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Thomas Claude Boyer was born May 27, 1927 in Arcadia to the late Emmett Boyer and Exer Scroggins [48861] Boyer. He died Sunday, May 3, 2009 at home surrounded by his family. Mr. Boyer was raised on a farm in Richland Parish. He married his wife, Willie Mae Ponder, 57 years ago and together they raised two daughters. He worked most of his life in the trucking buisness. In his younger years he was known as "Top-Cat" but he quickly became better known as "Big Pa" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the love of his life. In addition to his family "T.C." had two special friends; his two dogs, Ginger and Tarbaby. Mr. Boyer is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett Boyer and Exer Boyer; three brothers, Elton Boyer, Johnny Boyer and Ernest Boyer; and a sister, Lorene Pitts.

Mr. Boyer is survived by his wife, Willie Mae Boyer; his two daughters, Sheila Stamper and her husband, Gary and Pam Montgomery and her husband, Gene; four grandchildren, Tracy Powell and his wife, Denise, Shane Yates and his wife, Kim, Carol Perry and her husband, Benjy and Preston Yates; four great-grandchildren, Cole Perry, Hunter Perry, Luke Powell and Emme Yates; a sister, Narvis Robertson; and two sisters-in-laws, Julia Boyer and Vera Boyer.

Serving as pallbearers are Shane Yates, Preston Yates, Scott Stamper, Jimmy Ponder, Doug Ponder and Joe Robertson.
