Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Thornell was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and was lovingly known as "Googa". She is preceded in death by her husbands Judson Cleveland Tatum and Charles Thornell, daughters Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Hunt, Mildred Louise Moody, Barbara Ann Tatum, Betty Joyce Tatum, five infant children and her granddaughter Sherrie Dawn Kelley. Survivors include her grandchildren, Kathy Cantrell and husband Mike, Teresa Scroggins and husband Ray, Richard Moody, Debbie Moody, and Kenny Moody; great-grandchildren, Brandon Scroggins and wife Kristy, Jordan Cantrell and Alex Cantrell, her beloved Harold Kelley, and many friends and neighbors. Pallbearers will be Harry Burgamy, Robby Gray, Chad Law, Stephen Mitchell, Gary Shaw, and Roy Trejo.!

Nancy Ellen Rogers, 70, of Bartlesville, died at 9:08 P.M. Thursday at her home following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Nancy will be held at 10 A.M. Wednesday in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday at the Bryan Chapel Cemetery at Boatman, Oklahoma. Funeral services and interment are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Nancy was born on October 31, 1937 at Salina, Oklahoma to Ada Pearl (Marlow) and Fay H. Garner. She grew up and received her education in the Salina area prior to coming to the Bartlesville area to make her home in the mid 1960's. She was employed at various locations as a cashier and waitress, such as BestYet, Holiday Inn, Louie's IGA Grocery in Dewey, Jack's Caf/, the American Legion, and prior to her retirement was a bakery clerk at Albertson's. Her greatest accomplishment was raising four great children on her own.

Survivors include two sons, Marion Festus Williams, Jr. and his wife, Marlene of San Diego, California and Lloyd Dwayne Williams and his wife, Lori of Tulsa, two daughters, Mary L. Cooper and Paula Jean Williams both of Bartlesville, three sisters, Ardena Scroggins and her husband, Corky of Bartlesville, Thelma M. Cook of Bakersfield, California, and Louise Land of Grand Prairie, Texas, 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews including Donna and Larry Scroggins and her cat, Mr. B.W. Pepper. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Edith Coker in 1989.

Message: Raymond Enrique Briones RAYMOND ENRIQUE BRIONES Kennewick, Wash. Hillcrest Memorial Center Raymond Enrique Briones, 58, of Kennewick, WA died Aug. 25, 2008 at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, WA. He was born on Oct. 19, 1950 in Ida, Minnesota, to Enrique Briones and Anita Salinas. He married Hermelinda Hernandez on June 29, 1979 in Richland, WA and later had a wedding ceremony in Mexico. He lived in the Tri-Cities for over 30 years and worked for his own landscaping business. Although he retired, Raymond continued to do landscaping simply for enjoyment. He also enjoyed dancing, camping, vacationing, and watching action movies. One of his favorite activities was to spend time with his grandchildren. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Kennewick and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Pasco. He is survived by his wife, Hermelinda Briones; his son, Rick Briones; his daughters, Rosalinda Giannini, Angela Scroggins, Maribel Briones, and Margarita Briones, all of Tri-Cities, WA. He is also survived by his sister, Anna Maria Infante; his brothers, Francisco Mendoza and Ricardo Salinas Sr.; his grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends, all of whom loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his aunt, Esperanza Hernandez and his dear friend, Theodoro Riojas. He will be greatly missed and held in the hearts of those who were close to him. Kathleen Messinger

Kathleen June Messinger was born on January 24, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Hans & Margaret Hartkopf. She was called home on August 16, 2008 at the age of 65 years.

Kathleen was raised and educated in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was attending Brigham Young University when she met her future husband, Jerry Messinger. The couple married in the Los Angeles Temple of the LDS Church on September 6, 1963. The couple moved to Southern California where Jerry continued his education at Long Beach State, and Kathleen was a homemaker, devoted wife and loving mother.

Kathleen was active in the LDS church all her life and held teaching, leadership, and music positions. She was an accomplished violinist and often played with the Tulare County Symphony Orchestra. She also played for various wedding and special events.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Messinger of Visalia; sons, Jeffrey Messinger and wife, Leigh Ann, of Pleasant Grove Utah; Scott Messinger and wife, Kay; Kevin Messinger and wife, Beth, and Mark Messinger and wife, Sara, all of St. George, Utah; Daughters, Christy Scroggin and husband, Dennis of Ft.Worth, Texas, and Rebecca Neff and husband, Kevin, of No. Bend, Oregon; sister, Marion Hall of Fresno, CA, and twenty-one grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4000 W. Caldwell, Visalia, on Friday, 11:00 a.m. Visitation at the Miller Memorial Chapel on Thursday, 2-7 p.m. Private Interment. Condolences may be made at www.mem.com.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Horn Lake, and a veteran of WWII, Occupational Force, Korean Conflict and Vietnam. Mr. Jones was awarded the Bronze Metal, Air Metal and the Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn Jones; daughters, Debra Long, Diane Bledsoe; sons, Gwinn Jones, Billy Jones, Ricky Jones and Michael Jones. Mr. Jones is also survived by his sisters, Lanelle Silvio, Geneva Blanton, Barbara Scroggins; eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Memorial services for Ruth Squyres Grant, 85, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church Henderson Chapel with Reverend Carol Turner officiating. Private burial will be held in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mrs. Grant was born October 27, 1922 in Center, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Bunker and Mae (Scrogins) Squyres. Mrs. Grant graduated from Lufkin High School in 1940 and was a Charter Life Member of the Lufkin High School Alumni Association. She trained at Scott and White Hospital and became a registered medical technologist in 1943. She received her B.A. and M.A. from Stephen F. Austin State University and taught school in Lufkin for 23 years. Mrs. Grant was a certified school counselor. She retired from teaching in 1978 but continued to educate the public through her books and lectures on the history of Lufkin. She was the author of Lufkin Street Stories. Mrs. Grant was a member of the First United!
Methodist Church of Lufkin, the Seekers Sunday School Class, the Literary Club, the Angelina County Historical Commission and the Angelina County Genealogy and Historical Society. She was a member and past officer of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Grant was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ted L. Grant; grandson, Scott Faviell; brother, Bryce Squyres; and sisters, Margaret Smithhart and Rachel Perry Dowling. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Richard Faviell of Lufkin; grandsons, Christopher and Jonathan Faviell; brothers, Ralph and Reginald Squyres; sister-in-law, Kathryn Squyres; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jean Ann Marciano Scrogin, 64, of New London, died at 11:10 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2008, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Pastor Tom Day will officiate. Burial will be at Barkley Cemetery in New London.

Visitation will be from noon until the time of services Thursday at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Scrogin was born Jan. 18, 1944, in Hoboken, N. J., to Lugi "Gene" Ambrose and Margaret Cecilia Henry Marciano. She was married to Thomas D. Scrogin on Sept. 15, 1995. He survives.

Other survivors include one son, Robert Michael and wife Lynelle; and three grandchildren, Toni, Mandi and Laci.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Scrogin enjoyed doing crafts, sewing, gardening, being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Clyde Craven, Bill Painter, Dan Scrogin, Gary Wright, Jamey Simmons, Karl Krabbe and Gary "Fuzzy" Constable.

Pam was born on April 28, 1963, in Springfield, the daughter of Charles Franklin and Ruth Elaine Schaad Troxell.

She worked as a chef at various restaurants in the Springfield area.

Pam is survived by her son, Nicholas (companion, Lauren Peterson) Stieren of Springfield; two daughters, Crystal (companion, Kris Scroggins) Stieren of Greenview and Jamie (companion, Dennis Gallagher) Stieren of Springfield; five grandchildren, Austin Large, MacKenzie Scroggins, Emma Gallagher, Kimberly (Kayla) and Zachary McCloughan; her parents, Charles and Ruth Troxell of Springfield; her grandmother, Beulah (husband, Harold) Brandmeyer of Springfield her brother, Charles F. Troxell Jr. of Springfield; and her sister, Carol (husband, Don McKean) Troxell of Pennsylvania.

Marie Kathleen "Kay" McCormick, 87 of Aurora, passed away Monday, August 11, 2008 at her home. She was born August 21, 1920 in Watseka, IL.

Kay was a parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. She was a member of the Third Ward Auxillary Club and was an avid bowler in her younger years.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Robert H. McCormick of Aurora; her children, Kay Wells of Morristown, TN, Clarence "Skip" (Bonnie) McCormick of Tucson, AZ, Judith (Rollie) Scroggins of Aurora, and Pat (Jim) Braun of Bristol; 14 grandchildren, Shawn, Molly, Carson, Caitlyn, Jaeson, Jeffrey, Nicole (John Paul), Chad (Jennifer), Amanda, Kelly, Paula, Roger, Mary, and Susie; 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Jean (George) Banbury of Phoenix, AZ; several nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, Wanda Hollon of Aurora.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael P. McCormick in 2004; her parents, Edward and Martha (Riddle) Nally; four brothers, Bill, Ralph, Edward, and Louis; and three sisters, Rosemary Olson, Dorothy Watkins, and Winona Schultz.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Fr. David R. Engbarth will officiate. Private interment services will be held at a later date. Visitation will be Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the Mass hour at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 650 S. Fifth St., Aurora. Wilson after 42 years of marriage in 1983 and her loving son, Billy Wayne Wilson in 1997. She is survived by her son, Edward Wilson; loving daughter, Janice (William) Penn; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. At her request cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Eva Mae (Brown) Scroggin 1926-2008

Eva Mae Scroggin, 82, of Stagner Drive, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. today at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with Pastor Bob Bacon officiating. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery.

Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Eva Mae Scroggin was born July 13, 1926, in Alpin, Ark., to Roy Jefferson and Ida (Cox) Brown. She attended schools at Alpin and Perryville, Ark., graduating in 1944. Eva graduated with a BSE degree from Arkansas State Teachers College in 1947 and earned an ME degree from Eastern New Mexico University in 1971.

She married Mike Scroggin June 1, 1948, in Perryville, Ark. Eva taught school in Arkansas before moving to Carlsbad in 1952. She taught school at Alta Vista and Mid High School from 1965 to 1985. Eva was a member of First Baptist Church since 1952. She served in many capacities at church, teaching Sunday school, directing adult Sunday school departments, singing in the choir and volunteering on various committees.

Eva was also involved in the Women's Missionary Union and New Mexico Camper's on Mission. She was active in starting the Carlsbad Community Kitchen in 1992, and served as a team leader. Eva volunteered in the beauty shop at Lakeview Christian Home for many years. She was a charter member of the Carlsbad Gideon Auxiliary since 1964, and a member of Caveman Sam's.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Zee Brown; husband, Mike Scroggin; daughter, Annie J. Manganaro; and brother, James "Buddy" Brown.

Survivors include son, Don Mike Scroggin and wife, Debbie, of Rio Rancho; son-in-law, John Manganaro of Carlsbad; three granddaughters: Joanna Manganaro of New York City, N.Y., Julia Manganaro of Carlsbad, and Whitley Scroggin of Rio Rancho; two grandsons: Austin Jenkins of Rio Rancho, and Dalton Scroggin of Rio Rancho; sister, Donna Steely of Wake Forest, N.C.; and brother, Bill Brown of North Little Rock, Ark. Pallbearers will be Pete Van Winkle, Truman Ferguson, E.T. Holland, Glen Porter, Forrest Dickerson and Roscoe Melvin.

Honorary pallbearers are all her many friends

The Rev. Richard E. Behle, 79, Boyertown, died Aug. 3, 2008, in Berkshire Center, Exeter Township.

He was the husband of Kay L. (Henninger) Behle.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Edward and Esther (Sterner) Behle.

The Rev. Behle attended Pottstown schools and Ursinus College, in addition to his ministry training.

He was on the board of directors of Fellowship Village, Liberty Corner, N.J., as well as Fellowship Deaconry at Liberty Corner.

He was an Army veteran.

He attended a ministry training program and accepted a call as a full-time pastor in Clifton, N.J. A year later, he was ordained in the ministry and served 10 years at Evangelical Fellowship Chapel, Clifton.

After his service in Clifton, he retired to West Reading where he accepted a part-time position at St. James Church, West Reading. He also was a student in the chaplain's program at Reading Hospital and Medical Center to prepare him to be a chaplain at the hospital.

The Rev. Behle worked almost 28 years as department manager for Firestone Tire and Rubber Co., Pottstown. For four years after that he worked as a production manager of Purex Corp. in the Horsham and Philadelphia areas.

Surviving along with his wife are a daughter, Tricia, wife of David Hurter, Denton, Texas, and a son, Ken R., and wife, Liliana Behle, Alexandria, Va.

He is also survived by a stepdaughter, Karen, wife of Donald Kerns, Boyertown, and a stepson, David R., and wife, Tammy Purnell, Boyertown.

Additionally, he is survived by three grandchildren: Tania Hurter, Tara Scroggins and Ethan Behle; five step grandchildren: Eric and Lauren Specht; and Matthew, Daniel, and James Purnell; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Scroggins.

He was predeceased by a sister, Joan Brewer.

A memorial service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Swamp Creek Road, New Berlinville. Burial will be private. Friends may call Thursday, 10 to 11 a.m. in the church.

PERKINSTON, MISSISSIPPI - Eula Mae Scroggins, 82, passed away on June 16, 2008, at Wesley's Medical Center in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 20, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Father Bill Bartniski will officiate assisted by Father Fintan Kilmurray of Wiggins, Mississippi. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas immediately after the church service on Saturday. A visitation for the family and friends will take place Thursday, June 19, 2008, from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston with a Roseary at 6 p.m.

Eula was born June 21, 1925, to James Leonard King and Bernice Helton King in Lyman, Mississippi. She made her way to Galveston in the early 1960's, and began working for Galveston ISD in food service where she retired.

Eula was a dedicated wife, devoted mother, grandmother and a religiously devoted Christian woman. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Galveston, Texas where she was a member of the Alter Society and an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Wiggins, Mississippi.

Preceded in death by husband Cotton Scroggins, parents James and Bernice King, son, James "Jim" Hill, sister, Thelma Buley. Eula is survived by a loving son, Robert "Bobby" Hill and Elise; sisters Elouise Johnson, Virginia Mearu Boykin and Leota Plummer; stepdaughter Loraine Post; stepson Dewayne Scroggins. Other survivors include grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many other nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Pallbearers will be Richard Bostelmann, James Benham, Tony Eliaz, Joe Eliaz, Manuel Betacourt and Jamie Benham.

Honorary pallbearers are Deacon William Bobb and Donasiano Eliaz.
