Daniel Edward Scroggins recently of Naperville
A visitation for Daniel Edward Scroggins, formerly of Noblesville, Ind., will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Gartner Road, Naperville. Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery. He went to heaven Monday, Nov. 27, 2006. Daniel graduated from Naperville North High School in 2001, after an accomplished musical career that included lead oboist in the Naperville North Wind Ensemble and performance in the Naperville North Marching Band. He traveled extensively in Europe for performance with the Fox Valley Youth Orchestra and played in the Naperville Municipal Band. Upon graduation from high school, Daniel attended Northern Illinois University with a scholarship for organ performance. He continued his education first at Kishwaukee College in Malta, Ill., and most recently at College of DuPage, where he was a member of the Chamber Orchestra. Daniel served as church musician for Good Shepherd Lutheran Churc!
h of Romeoville, Ill., organ assistant at St. Raphael Catholic Church In Naperville and organist for Batavia, Ill., United Methodist Church. Daniel was an avid collector of musical instruments, books, coins, stamps and trains. His loving and gentle spirit will be missed by family and friends. Daniel is the beloved son of Wesley Edward and Mary Suzanne (nee Vice) Scroggins of Naperville and brother to Alison Lauren Barbier (nee Scroggins) of Peoria and Patrick Owen Scroggins, also of Naperville. Daniel is loved and missed by his extended family that includes maternal grandparents, Paul and Lillian Vice of Kirkwood, Ill., and paternal grandmother, Laura Juanita Creech of Alton, Ill. His paternal grandfathers, Harold F. Creech and Harold David Scroggins, preceded him in death. The family requests that donations be made to the Pipe Organ Fund at Grace United Methodist Church in Naperville. DONALD E. SOTTA Donald E. Sotta, Sr. 69, of Joplin, MO and rural McCune, KS died November 17, 2006 at his home due to complications of a prior accident. Donald was born October 11, 1937 in West Mineral, KS the son of Gabriele and Rose (Bond) Sotta. He graduated high school in West Mineral. He then attended Pittsburg State University earning his undergraduate degree. Donald earned his law degree at University of Missouri in Kansas City. On August 26, 1961 he married Marcia Gallagher in Kansas City, KS; they later divorced. Donald was a member of the Missouri Bar Association, and the Jasper County Bar Association. Survivors include sons Donald E. Sotta, Jr. DVM and wife Brenda of McCune, KS and Chris Sotta of Pittsburg, KS; daughter Michelle Riley and husband Chris of Kansas City, MO; brother Robert Sotta of Washington State and sister Rosemary Davis of Columbus, KS; grandchildren Justin and Jonathan Riley, Rebekah, Jesse, Seth, Lane and Leah Sotta. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Daniel Sotta, 3 infant siblings, sister Lucille Scroggins and brother Tony Sotta. Private funeral ceremonies will take place at a later date. Dee Carroll Turner Jr., 75, of Amarillo died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Dumas with military rites by American Legion Post No. 224. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Grace Community Church in Amarillo with Bill Gehm, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Dee Carroll Turner Jr., surviving twin, was born March 25, 1931, to Dee Carroll Sr. and Bernice R. Turner, and is survived by his wife of 44 years, Peggy Ellen Turner. He was raised in Stinnett. He served in the Army, stationed in Germany for two years during the Korean War. He married Peggy Turner in 1962. They raised their children in Dumas until he retired from Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line after 30 years. On Dec. 31, 1988, they moved to Amarillo, where he spent the remainder of his years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gary Turner; a sister, Dorothy Caroline Turner; and a daughter, Terri Lynn Turner.
He raised three children, Terri Lynn Turner, who preceded him in death; John Daniel Turner; Trina Dee Scroggins; and a grandchild, Timothy Joseph Mundell.
His daughter, Terri, had Michelle Lynn Rhodes, Jeremy Michael Pendley and Timothy Joseph Mundell.
His son, John Daniel Turner has two sons, John Daniel Turner and John Dalton Turner.
His daughter, Trina Dee Scroggins, has five children, Dustin Jay DeFries, Sheena Roshele Maloy, Ryan Dee Scroggins, Shay Bradley Scroggins and Stephen Bray Scroggins.
He has 11 great-grandchildren, Bryson Pendley, 14, Austin Rhoades, 14, Kelsi Fortenberry, 13, Nicholas Rhoades, 7, Christopher Rhoades, 3, Amber Pendley, 13, Brianna Pendley, 2, Whitney Mundell, 11, Cody Mundell, 10, Ashley Mundell, 2, and Austin Maloy, 7.

PORT ORANGE - Andrew T. Gaffka, 83, of Village Trail, who owned/operated Gaff's Meats in Michigan from 1947-1981 and also locally owned Gaff's Quality Meats, died Thursday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach. Mr. Gaffka, a Navy veteran of World War II, was born in Detroit and moved here in 1981 from Taylor, Mich. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and former member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid Notre Dame football fan. Survivors include three sons, Bruce and Eric, both of Port Orange, and Robert, Canton, Mich.; two daughters, Andrea Davis and Barbara Kling, both of Port Orange; two brothers, Eddie and Larry, and two sisters, Sally Shook and Jenny Scroggins, all of Michigan; 24 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Volusia Memorial, Port Orange, is in charge.

Gaffka who passed away Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach, will be 8:30 a.m. Monday, November 20, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, with the Rev. Donald Jette officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and a prayer vigil service at 7 p.m. today (Sunday, November 19) at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange. The entombment will be at Volusia Memorial Park, 550 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, immediately following the service. Mr. Gaffka was born in Detroit, Mich., and moved to the Daytona Beach area in 1981 from Taylor, Mich. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was owner and operator of Gaff's Meats in Michigan from 1947-1981 and also locally owned Gaff's Quality Meats. Mr. Gaffka was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Port Orange, and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Michigan. He was an avid Notre Dame fan, enjoyed gardening and was a devoted family man. Visitation is on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mrs. Miele worked for many years as a seamstress for various companies in Newark, retiring 50 years ago. She was a devotee to St. Gerard for many years. Mrs. Miele is survived by her son, Dr. Louis Acocella, a deacon at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Belleville and his wife, Sally (nee Battista); her grandchildren, Dr. Michael Acocella, Dr. Anne Scroggins and her husband, Chris, Mary Anne Halbert and her husband, David, and her greatgrandchildren, David Halbert Jr. and Hannah Scroggins.

Joshua Charles Roberts, age 20, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2006 in Baytown. He was born October 24, 1986 to Charles Roberts and Lisa Kay Mathews in Galveston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is lovingly survived by his daughters, Lisah Roberts and Alizeh Marie Roberts of Baytown; grandparents, Joe and Linda Fowler of Baytown, Bill and Belle Morton and Dorothy Roberts of Baytown; sister, Amanda Montgomery of Highlands; step-brother, Travis Scroggins of Baytown; 4 step-sisters, Crystal Scroggins, Amanda Williams, Kristie Hantz and Ashley Scroggins, all of Baytown. He is also survived by numerous of other relatives and a host of friends. NEW BLOOMINGTON - Jack L. Scroggins, age 57, of New Bloomington, passed away Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at his residence.
He was born in Marion on June 14, 1949, to the late Wylie and Anna M. (Hamm) Scroggins.
Jack was a Navy veteran and he worked as a stationary steam engineer for Scioto Juvenile Corrections for the State of Ohio.
Surviving are his wife, Jane (Brown) Scroggins; two daughters, Kelly (John) Kinsella of St. Paul, Minn., Jennifer M.Scroggins of New Bloomington; four brothers, Gene (Anita) Wells of Chicago, Jesse (Clara) Scroggins of New Bloomington, John (Emma) Scroggins of Mount Gilead, Kenneth (Becky) Scroggins of Mount Gilead; four sisters, Loretta (Walt) Mahler of Marion, Joyce (Richard) Bender of Delaware, Shirley (John) McManus of Marion, Mary (Jack) Edington of Marion, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Jack was a member of St. Mary Church. He loved spending time with his family and was a BMW motorcycle fan.
Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. till 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2006,at St Mary Church. Burial will follow in St Mary's Cemetery, with graveside services being conducted by Marion County United Veterans Council. Serving as pallbearers are Dave Chaffin and Rich Bender.
Memorial contributions may be made to Quality of Life Hospice, 278 Barks Road West, Marion, OH 43302.
A celebration of Jack's life will be held following the burial at Jack and Jane's home.

Dee Carroll Turner Jr., 75, of Amarillo died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Dumas with military rites by American Legion Post No. 224. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Grace Community Church in Amarillo with Bill Gehm, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Dee Carroll Turner Jr., surviving twin, was born March 25, 1931, to Dee Carroll Sr. and Bernice R. Turner, and is survived by his wife of 44 years, Peggy Ellen Turner. He was raised in Stinnett. He served in the Army, stationed in Germany for two years during the Korean War. He married Peggy Turner in 1962. They raised their children in Dumas until he retired from Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line after 30 years. On Dec. 31, 1988, they moved to Amarillo, where he spent the remainder of his years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gary Turner; a sister, Dorothy Caroline Turner; and a daughter, Terri Lynn Turner.
He raised three children, Terri Lynn Turner, who preceded him in death; John Daniel Turner; Trina Dee Scroggins; and a grandchild, Timothy Joseph Mundell.
His daughter, Terri, had Michelle Lynn Rhodes, Jeremy Michael Pendley and Timothy Joseph Mundell.
His son, John Daniel Turner has two sons, John Daniel Turner and John Dalton Turner.
His daughter, Trina Dee Scroggins, has five children, Dustin Jay DeFries, Sheena Roshele Maloy, Ryan Dee Scroggins, Shay Bradley Scroggins and Stephen Bray Scroggins.
He has 11 great-grandchildren, Bryson Pendley, 14, Austin Rhoades, 14, Kelsi Fortenberry, 13, Nicholas Rhoades, 7, Christopher Rhoades, 3, Amber Pendley, 13, Brianna Pendley, 2, Whitney Mundell, 11, Cody Mundell, 10, Ashley Mundell, 2, and Austin Maloy, 7.

A visitation for Daniel Edward Scroggins, formerly of Noblesville, Ind., will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Gartner Road, Naperville. Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery. He went to heaven Monday, Nov. 27, 2006. Daniel graduated from Naperville North High School in 2001, after an accomplished musical career that included lead oboist in the Naperville North Wind Ensemble and performance in the Naperville North Marching Band. He traveled extensively in Europe for performance with the Fox Valley Youth Orchestra and played in the Naperville Municipal Band. Upon graduation from high school, Daniel attended Northern Illinois University with a scholarship for organ performance. He continued his education first at Kishwaukee College in Malta, Ill., and most recently at College of DuPage, where he was a member of the Chamber Orchestra. Daniel served as church musician for Good Shepherd Lutheran Churc!

Daniel is loved and missed by his extended family that includes maternal grandparents, Paul and Lillian Vice of Kirkwood, Ill., and paternal grandmother, Laura Juanita Creech of Alton, Ill. His paternal grandfathers, Harold F. Creech and Harold David Scroggins, preceded him in death.
