Donald E. Sotta, Sr. 69, of Joplin, MO and rural McCune, KS died November 17, 2006 at his home due to complications of a prior accident. Donald was born October 11, 1937 in West Mineral, KS the son of Gabriele and Rose (Bond) Sotta. He graduated high school in West Mineral. He then attended Pittsburg State University earning his undergraduate degree. Donald earned his law degree at University of Missouri in Kansas City. On August 26, 1961 he married Marcia Gallagher in Kansas City, KS; they later divorced. Donald was a member of the Missouri Bar Association, and the Jasper County Bar Association. Survivors include sons Donald E. Sotta, Jr. DVM and wife Brenda of McCune, KS and Chris Sotta of Pittsburg, KS; daughter Michelle Riley and husband Chris of Kansas City, MO; brother Robert Sotta of Washington State and sister Rosemary Davis of Columbus, KS; grandchildren Justin and Jonathan Riley, Rebekah, Jesse, Seth, Lane and Leah Sotta. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Daniel Sotta, 3 infant siblings, sister Lucille Scroggins and brother Tony Sotta. Private funeral ceremonies will take place at a later date. (Arrangements are under the direction of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 104 W. Main St. Weir, KS). Memorials may be in the form of donations to the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.
