She was a member of Elm Grove Church of Christ in Burlison, Tenn. Mrs. Scogins, the widow of L. E. 'Dick' Scogins, leaves two daughters, Inez Vanstory of Henning, Tenn., and Dorothy Vandergrift of Richardson, Texas; four sons, Elmer Scroggins of Byhalia, Miss., A. G. Scroggins of Burlison, Erskine Scroggins of Memphis and Chester Scroggins of Booneville, Miss., 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and five great- great-grandchildren.

Doucette --- Funeral service for W.T. Scroggins 75, of Doucette, Texas were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday June 19,1993, from Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with Brother Durl Patrick, Pastor of the Katy Baptist church and Brother E. Jones, a long time family friend officiating.

Burial followed in Camp Ground Cemetery near Woodville.

Mr. Scroggins died June 17, at the Tyler County Hospital in Woodville, Texas.

A former longtime resident of Beaumont, Mr. Scroggins had resident in Doucette for 17 years. He was a retired mechanic for Centex Concrete in Beaumont with 30 years of service and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years Helen Louise Jones Scroggins [31052:K] of Doucette; One son Charles [31037:K] and wife Pat Scroggins [51479:K, fb] of Doucette, four daughters, Norvelle [38723:K, fb] and husband Jesse Rogers [tba:K] of Wildwood, Jean [38722:K]  and husband Billy Bumstead [tba:K] of Woodville, Carolyn [31051:K, fb] and husband Ray Lawson [tba:K] of DeRidder, LA. and Tommie Sue Smith [tba:K] of Doucette. 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Wayvard Thomas Scroggins, Charles E.'Chip' Scroggins, Jefferson Moore III, Wayne 'Corky' Lawson, Timothy E. Scroggins, Charles Adkins, Pete Wilson and Jerry Bumstead.
Riley Funeral Home of Woodville directed the arrangements. Wayvard Thomas was the son of Eugene Jefferson Scroggins [31039:K] and Alice Mariah (Key) Scroggins [31040:K]. Born January 12,1918 in Navarro Co., Texas.

He was married to Helen Louise Jones October 21, 1938 at Saratoga, Harden Co., Texas. They had five children Madelene Norvelle, Lois Jean, Charles Edwin, Carolyn Louise and Tommie Sue.

Mr. Scroggin was born Aug. 4, 1924 in Lincoln, the son of Wesley A. and Helene

E. Shrader Scroggin. He was co-owner of the Bo-Jac Hybrid Corn Company and

member of the First Christian Church, Mount Pulaski. He married Betty Jean

Aylesworth Aug. 22, 1951 in Mount Pulaski.

Surviving are his wife; son, Terry Linn Scroggin of Mount Pulaski; daughter,

Cheryl Ann Jason of Mount Pulaski; mother of Mount Pulaski; brother, John

"Jack" Scroggin of Mount Pulaski; five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.
