Obituary: Scroggins rites held

Raymond Ray Scroggins of 124 W. Cypress, Holdenville, was born in Sasakwa on July 29, 1918 to Milo [13941:P] and Birdie (Brown) [13960:P] Scroggins and died in Holdenville General Hospital Saturday, January 29 at the age of 75.

He moved to Holdenville as a young boy and attended Jackson school. He later farmed and also worked in the oilfields. He served two years in the U. S. Navy abourd ship in the Pacific area.

He was retired in 1978 after 20 years working for the Soil Conservation Service.

Survivors are his widow, Cleo [tba:P], of the home; one son and daughter in law, Lloyd Dean [tba:P] and Glenda Scroggins [tba:P] of Wewoka; one daughter, Ginger Foster [tba:P] of Noble; two step daughters, Lonetta Townley and Geraldine Jay, both of Holdenville; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren: two brothers, Lee Scroggins [30150:P] and Troy Scroggins [tba:P], both of Holdenville; three sisters, Jesse Bell Sims [tba:P] of Hobbs, N. M.; Odie Gordon [tba:P] and Opal Yarbrough [34172:P], both of Muskogee. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lora Brazil [tba:P] and Bessie Price [tba:P] and one brother, Harvey (Jack) Scroggins [tba:P].

Funeral services were today (Tuesday) at 10 a.m. At the Hudson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Meredith Robinson officiating. Pallbearers were Leonard Dooley, Darrell Phillips, George Brown, Troy Wright, Daniel Sisco, Patrick Townley. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Orsborn, Jerry Price, Buster Price and Larry Paul Scroggins. Burial was in Holdenville cemetery under direction of Hudson Funeral Home.
