Russell Davis, 807 Jodi Lane, Marion was charged with theft, and criminal trespass to a motor vehicle. He pleaded guilty to the theft charge and was sentenced to 12 months conditional discharge. Our Lord welcomed Florence into heaven on Sunday, April 13, 2008, after 95 wonderful years of life. She was born on May 6, 1912 in Jackson, MI to William and Eva (Pickworth) Deming. After the death of her mother, Florence attended finishing school in Windsor, ON and then lived with various relatives until making her home in Lansing. Florence graduated from Lansing Eastern High School, Class of 1931 and continued to live in the area for her entire adult life. In 1934, Florence married Layton Rugh and together they shared the next 67 years. She worked as a secretary for Doctors Alton and Keim before managing a warm and caring home for her family. Florence taught Sunday school at Pilgrim Congregational Church and enjoyed needlework. People were drawn by her sincerity, warmth, wit and willingness to share exactly what was on her mind when sufficiently provoked. Florence listened more than she spoke, and lived in the present and not the past. She had a quiet confidence, grace and!
unconditional love and support for her family. She will be mourned by sons, John N. (Constance) Rugh of Aurora, CO and Thomas L. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Harriet (Hattie Lee) Harrell Tipton; a daughter, Carol Ann Tipton and an infant daughter; his sisters Nellie Elizabeth Daniels and Elsie May Scroggins and a brother, Roy M. Tipton. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Donald H. Bill Scroggins, a veteran photographer for The Sun News, died Monday after suffering from a lung condition that had put him on a list for a transplant. He was 56.

Scroggins had been waiting since July for a transplant to be done at Duke University Medical Center. Three times, he had been prepped for a new lung, but each time the lung was not the right size or judged to be inadequate.

He was moved to a nursing home last week to get full-time care because of his failing lungs. He died after being transferred to Durham Regional Medical Center Monday morning.

Scroggins had suffered from pulmonary fibrosis, a type of scarring that causes a reduction in lung capacity.

His wife, Diana, said Monday that his lungs just stopped working.

''Bill Scroggins was just simply one of the nicest people I've known,'' said Sue Deans, editor of The Sun News. ''He was always willing to do what needed to be done and did a good job of it.''

Scroggins joined The Sun News in 1978, moving from Columbia where he was a photographer for The State newspaper for five years. He was graduated from Memphis State University with a bachelor of science degree in journalism.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete Monday and will be announced by Goldfinch Funeral Home, beach chapel.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Brent Holte.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 7 at 11 a.m. at the Morningside Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Tony Lee Miller and the Rev. Steve Townsend. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Easley - Jeannine Hays Cichon, 77, of 101 Canterbury Drive, died Sunday, January 21, 2007, at the Hospice House of Anderson.

Born in Wathena, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Franklin and Edna Straub Hays. She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pickens.

Surviving are three daughters, Karen Scroggin and husband, Tim, of Mount Pulaski, Ill., Lynn Ferris and husband, Dan, of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Terri Cichon of Bedford, Texas, and four grandchildren, Kyle Scroggin, Briana Scroggin, Cory Ferris, and Benjamin Ferris. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Carl S. Cichon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with Reverend C. Thomas Miles officiating. A brief visitation will follow in the church vestibule before departing for burial at Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley.

The family is at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 3535 Pelham Road, Greenville, SC 29615, or to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 558 Hampton Avenue, Pickens, SC 29671.
