Shirley Keltner, 56, of Hiestand Street, Campbellsville, died Wednesday,
May 15, 1996, at the Taylor County Hospital after a sudden illness. She
was the daughter of the late Herman Lee Coomes and Bethel Harden Blair, who
survives. Keltner was a native of Taylor County, a member of the Church of
God and an employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville. Besides her
father, she was preceded in death by one sister, Janet Mullins. Besides
her mother, Keltner is survived by her step-father, Montie Blair; her
husband, Sylvester Keltner; three sons and one daughter, Kirt Keltner of
Campbellsville, Michael Keltner, Neal Smothers, and Karen Hill, all of
Louisville; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Phyllis Jeffries of
Hodgenville and Patricia Scroggins of Indiana. Funeral was at 1 p.m.,
Saturday, May 18, 1996, at the Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel with burial
in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens. Bro. Terry Clayton
officiated. Pallbearers were Mike Carter, Monroe Sherr!
ill, Bronson Sherrill, Junior Sherrill, Shane Sherrill, and Dennis Hill

Handling charges
A 40-year-old man is charged with sexual abuse after groping a woman employee in Wal-Mart last Thursday night.
The employee said that she was stocking shelves about midnight when her landlord, Steven Scroggins, came into the store with his son.
The employee said that Scroggins was intoxicated and she asked him repeatedly to leave before he grabbed her breast from behind.
Scroggins attempted to grab the woman a second time and again she pushed him away.
A male employee and the store surveillance confirmed the girl's story.
Police contacted Scroggins about 1:30 in the morning on a noise complaint and questioned him about the Wal-Mart incident. He claimed that he was in love with the girl and gave her a hug.
When arrested, Scroggins admitted that he had a drinking problem and told police, "I should just let her go."

Rev. Robert Dawson, 101, Dies at Wasson

Funeral Wednesday For Saline County's Oldest Churchman

The Rev. Robert Dawson, 101, Saline County's Centennial Churchman, died Monday at 5:30 p.m. at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Bertha Dumford, at Wasson.  He had been failing in health for six months, but was buoyed by his expectancy of taking part in the Centennial until this climactic event officially closed his public service.
It seemed to relatives and friends that his strength was sustained providentially to enable him to make his last appearance on the occasion of the last afternoon at the Centennial celebration, when he officiated at the wedding of a young couple from Eldorado.  Next day he collapsed and although he rallied, his vitality slowed ebbed away.  He was the oldest both in service and age.  He had been preaching for 76 years.
Rev. Dawson was named by T. Leo Dodd, president of the Saline County Historical Society, "The Saline County Centennial Churchman."
It was from his remarkable collection of events in detail, recounted in a most pleasant manner that much of the material concerning early years of Saline County's history, that Mr. Dodd compiled his chapter in the Centennial history "Saline County" on "Churches and Religious Worship."
The Rev. Dawson was converted in a Fee Will Baptist service in Tennessee, where he was born in 1846, on Oct. 26.  He was reared at Ashland, in Cheatham County, Tenn., and was ordained and started preaching when he was about 24 years of age.
He held his first revival in a dilapidated old Methodist church where the congregation sat on split rail benches, and huge timber surrounded the building.
His education was limited to three months of regular schooling, and a study of the Bible, Webster's dictionary, and the Cruden Concordance.  He said on his 100th birthday, which was celebrated in 1946, "I depended upon the Lord for wisdom."
He was married when he came to Illinois at 33 and settled in Pope County, remaining there until he was 50 years old.  He was not present at the organization of the Social Brethren Church, which took place in Saline County in 1867, but he became a minister in that denomination soon afterward and remained active in evangelism until his death.  He had resided at Wasson and preached there for more than 20 years.
Surviving children include the Rev. Bluford Dawson, Methodist minister recently at Galatia and now a Louisville, Ill.; Mrs. Sarah McDonald of Phoenix, Ariz.; Mrs. Ethel Colbert of Wasson; Mrs. Olive Dean of Eldorado; and Mrs. Bertha Dumford, widow of E. P. Dumford, of Wasson with whom he made his home for several years.  His body will lie in state at the Martin Funeral Home in Eldorado.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Spring Valley Church south of Harrisburg.  Dr. C. C. Hall of Carbondale and Rev. J. Rue Reed of Flora will officiate and interment will be in Spring Valley Cemetery.

Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Scroggins died Thursday, December 7, 2006 in Deport. Born July 13, 1915 in Garrison, she was the daughter of Cora A. Holmes and John Pinkney Holmes. She was employed by Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Survivors include her son, Edward F. Wagner, Jr of Nacogdoches; daughters, Josephine Pietsch of New Braunfels, Marianne Ladd of Deport, Nellave Dominy of Lufkin and Dorothy Patterson of Nacogdoches; sister Betty Loper of Houston; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Message: Lois Fendley Scroggins LOIS FENDLEY SCROGGINS, age 90, peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2006 after a brief illness. Lois was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marvin Scroggins. She is survived by her sister, Audrey Mosley; sister-in-law, Virginia Alden; nephews Bill Alden and Gary Alden and their families, Cindy Alden, Yvonne Alden, Lindsey Alden, and Connor Alden. She loved her adopted family, Leon and Zindy O'Neal, Rhonda Herring, Eddie and Jennifer O'Neal and son, Shelley Shing, and daughters as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and church family. All were a great joy and experienced her unconditional love. Lois was a charter member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church, was the Church clerk, on the Missions Committee, and lead the Ladies Prayer Meetings. Her absolute faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, her Savior, was the foundation of her life. She was a beautiful and loving soul and will be missed by all. A visitation will be 5:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2006 at Earthman Resthaven, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 3134 Frick Road, Houston, Texas with Pastor Scott Townley officiating. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery. There will be a memorial gathering after the graveside service at Lighthouse Baptist Church to celebrate the loving soul of Lois Flowers and beautiful but they fade. Danny E. Misemer, 65, went to be with his Lord at his home in Walnut Grove, on Friday, Dec. 1, 2006. Danny was born July 25, 1941, in Miller, Mo., to Noel Nelson Misemer and Virgie Lela Scroggins. Danny was preceded in death by Francis and Olla Misemer, his very special, loving grandparents. His father Noel Misemer, brother Gary Misemer, stepfather Jimmie Lewis, and grandson SPC Justin Carter Misemer, Operation Iraqi Freedom. Hubby, Dad and Pa Pa will be deeply missed by his surviving family, his wife of 43 years Gretchen Misemer; three children, Brett Misemer and Becky, Mansfield, Bridget Mills and Kevin, Bolivar, Clint Misemer, Walnut Grove and friend Dalene Wiggins; three grand-children, Jacob Mills, Nathan Mills and Crystal Misemer; his mother Virgie Lewis, Stockton, Calif.; brother Howard Misemer and Kathleen, Springfield; brother Roger Lewis and Rayleen, Jackson, Calif.; and one sister Mary Jean Cain and Wayne, Stockton, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. Danny graduated in the first class at Ash Grove following the consolidation of the Ash Grove/Bois D'Arc School District in 1958/59. After graduating, as a young man Danny honorably served in the United States Navy. His career consisted of 27 years with Ozark Airlines, four years with TWA and eventually retired from American Airlines. Danny was currently employed with Meeks Lumber in Springfield, Mo. Danny was an active member of Center Baptist Church in Ash Grove. He enjoyed working around the home and did anything for his children. A celebration of Danny's life will start with a visitation on Tuesday, Dec.5, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Birch Funeral Home in Ash Grove and will continue with a graveside service in the Ash Grove Cemetery on Wed., Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America (www.Support Veterans. org) or Center Baptist Church, Ash Grove.

Mary Ellen Brown Scroggins, 88, of Tillar, Ark., died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at Drew Memorial Hospital, Monticello, Ark., after a short illness.
She was born May 21,1918, at Burns in Polk County, the youngest daughter of John Samuel Brown and Beulah Malinda Higginbotham Brown.
She was a retired seamstress. A lifetime member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Burns, Polk County. She was married to Homer Coleman Scroggins on April 4, 1930, at Polk County and later moved to the state of California. Then moved to Tillar, Ark., to be near her son after the death of her husband.
She is survived by her two sons, John Scroggins of the Mt. Tabor Community, Ark., and Guy Scroggins of Ventura, Calif.; a sister, Genevieve Brown Ryan of Boonville; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Martha Wilzona Brown Chappel; and one brother, Clarence Albert "Pat" Brown.
Graveside services were Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, at Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Ark. A00008B2006DC06
