Mary Ellen Brown Scroggins, 88, of Tillar, Ark., died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at Drew Memorial Hospital, Monticello, Ark., after a short illness.
She was born May 21,1918, at Burns in Polk County, the youngest daughter of John Samuel Brown and Beulah Malinda Higginbotham Brown.
She was a retired seamstress. A lifetime member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Burns, Polk County. She was married to Homer Coleman Scroggins on April 4, 1930, at Polk County and later moved to the state of California. Then moved to Tillar, Ark., to be near her son after the death of her husband.
She is survived by her two sons, John Scroggins of the Mt. Tabor Community, Ark., and Guy Scroggins of Ventura, Calif.; a sister, Genevieve Brown Ryan of Boonville; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Martha Wilzona Brown Chappel; and one brother, Clarence Albert "Pat" Brown.
Graveside services were Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, at Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Ark. A00008B2006DC06
