Patricia S. Ruden (nee Scroggins) Of Shorewood, passed away at Edward Hospital in Naperville, Saturday, August 29, 2009. Age 71 years. Survived by her husband of 48 years, Donald Ruden [35708]; two sons, Eric [35712] (Brenda) Ruden and Greg [35713] (Anne) Ruden; a daughter, Jennifier [35714] (Joe [35715]) Madson; nine grandchildren Paige, Taylor, Alec, Allison, Garrett and Leah Ruden, Cade, Ryan and Erika Madson; her mother Louise Scroggins [35706] (nee Taylor) and her brother James [35709] (Lou) Scroggins; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan and Lois Demos, Norma Larson, Barbara Nurczyk, Ron and Toni Ruden. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her father G.W. Scroggins [35635]. Pat was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and participating in clubs and organizations within the church including the Altar Guild. She was also involved with the Home Economics Club of Joliet for many years. Previously she worked for Northern Illinois Gas Co. in the home economics department which included her portraying "Penny Flame" at many seminars and trade shows. Pat worked along side her husband Don at Expert Optics in Shorewood for over 25 years. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Funeral services will be held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 412 E. Benton St., Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. Rodney A. Juell officiating. Memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice will be appreciated. Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, Wednesday from 3:00 7:00 P.M.

ADAMS, DANIEL EUGENE "Dan", 61, of Apopka, FL. He was a former resident of Madison and graduated in 1966. He was inducted into the United States Army on July 19, 1966 at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He rose to the rank of Sergeant serving in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on July 18, 1972 from St. Louis, MO receiving the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medals with Sixty Device. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the 173rd Air Bourne Division and was awarded the Bronze Star and The Purple Heart Medals. He was united in marriage to Judy D. Crowe in Apopka, FL on June 5, 1992. He was a self employed owner and operator of D & E Fernery in Apopka, FL. He had resided in Florida since 1969. He attended the Round Lake Christian Church in Mt. Dora, FL. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his grandson and grandchildren, they were the love of his life. Daniel died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009 at 3:56 p.m. at the Florida South Hospital in Apopka, FL. Dan will be missed by his loving wife Judy Crowe Adams of Apopka, FL; his daughter, Andrea Ruth and her husband Ryan, of Mt. Viola Davis, 89, of Nacogdoches, passed away peacefully Friday, August 14, 2009, in Nacogdoches, Texas. A mass of Christian burial service will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Monsignor James E. Young officiating. The burial will follow in Moral Cemetery. Viola was born in Nacogdoches, Texas, on February 14, 1920, the daughter of the late Andrew and Willie (Manchaca) Lozano. She was a devout Christian woman, attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and contributed to many causes as a behind-the-scenes benefactor; as long as she was able she saw that her family grave sites were well tended. Viola loved life, family gatherings, cooking (especially her chicken & dumplings), and she enjoyed eating. She worked as a machine operator at McGraw-Edison/Cooper Industries until her retirement. Then, her last years were spent at Willowbrook Nursing Home, where she was a happy resident and made many special friends. Viola is survived by a sister, Ellen "Mickey" Barnett [26373] of Nacogdoches; nieces, Donna Deason and husband, Robert, Deborah Horton [48866] and husband, Mike, Teresa Bryan and husband, John, Phyllis LaRue [48868], all of Nacogdoches, Vicki Wright and husband, Floyd of Lufkin, Texas, Nancy Hudgins [15256] and husband, Bud [15257] of Gilmer, Texas and Annette Embler [48867] and husband, Walter of Beaumont, Texas. She is also survived by nephews, Warren C. BROOKLET, Ga. - Mr. Fred B. O'Berry, age 84, died on Thursday, August 13, 2009, at his residence. The LaGrange, Ga., native moved to Savannah with his family in 1928 then to the Bethesda Home for Boys with his brother after his father's death in 1934. Mr. O'Berry was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He lived for most of his life in Savannah working for the Chatham County Police Department, the Savannah Police Department and the Garden City Police Department. He was the owner and operator of O'Berry Bonding Company for 25 years and O'Berry Tire Company for 26 years. Mr. O'Berry moved to Bulloch County in 1973 before retiring in 1995. He was greatly loved by his wife and family. Mr. O'Berry was a believer who loved God and attended many churches in the area. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred B. and Bessie Webb O'Berry Sr.; and a brother, John William O'Berry.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Betty Whitaker O'Berry of Brooklet; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Frank Scroggin of Wilmington Island, Ga., and Lisa and Marvin Headley of Dacula, Ga.; a sister, Evelyn O'Berry Adams of Pooler; a sister-in-law, Margie O'Berry of Wilmington Island, Ga.; five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Black officiating and W.A. Edwards assisting.
Pallbearers will be Noel Forrester, Lamar Scroggins, Phil Scroggins, Tyler Scroggins, Caleb Scroggins, Phillip Scroggins, Joel Headley and Andrew Headley.
Burial will be in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

ENGLISH Mrs. Jeanette Scroggins English went to be with the Lord on August 10, 2009 at her residence in Jacksonville Florida. Graveside Funeral services for Mrs.English will be held Thursday, August 13th, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Glenwood Cemetery in Thomasaton, Ga. Mrs. English was born in Thomaston, Ga. on April 12th, 1916 and was a 1934 graduate of R.E. Lee High School. She was employed by the Ammunition Plant in Macon, Ga. during World War II. Mrs. English was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Thomaston early in life and later, as she and her family moved to Florida, she became an active member in the Presbyterian Church there as well. Mrs. English loved to work in her garden and with her flowers. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Earl English [38060], sisters, Ann [38065], Grace [], and Mary Kate [38066], brothers, Ben Scroggins [26285] and Hoyt Scroggins [] and also a grandson, Douglas English. Mrs. English is survived by her two sons, Mr. Robert "Bob" (Peggy) English of Jacksonville, Fl., and Mr. Timothy "Tim" (Lynn) English of San Antonio Texas; three grandsons, Bobby English, Steven English and Paul English. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for visitation Thursday, August 13th, 2009 from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. prior to graveside services. ENGLISH Mrs. Jeanette Scroggins English went to be with the Lord on August 10, 2009 at her residence in Jacksonville Florida. Graveside Funeral services for Mrs.English will be held Thursday, August 13th, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Glenwood Cemetery in Thomasaton, Ga. Mrs. English was born in Thomaston, Ga. on April 12th, 1916 and was a 1934 graduate of R.E. Lee High School. She was employed by the Ammunition Plant in Macon, Ga. during World War II. Mrs. English was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Thomaston early in life and later, as she and her family moved to Florida, she became an active member in the Presbyterian Church there as well. Mrs. English loved to work in her garden and with her flowers. WEOGUFKA - Alfred T. Campbell, 83 of Weogufka, passed away Aug. 3, 2009 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret N. Campbell; parents, John T. and Effie Campbell; and a brother, Jack E. Campbell. He is survived by a daughter, Janice C. Scroggins and husband Jimmy of Sylacauga; grandchildren, Warren Scroggins and wife Kelly of Cumming, GA, Kim S. Smith and husband Kenny of Fayetteville, Jason Scroggins of Sylacauga and Jamie S. Culver and husband Shane of Sylacauga; great-grandchildren, Brittany Scroggins, Brandon Riley, Kayla Riley, Dylan Smith, Kourtney Smith, Kelsey Smith, Jaycie Smith, Slade Scroggins, Nellie Scroggins, Bailey Scroggins, and Draven Culver. Pallbearers will be Tommy Campbell, John Campbell, French Campbell, Charles Hill, David Scroggins, and Larry Strayer. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Campbell and Frank Polk. The Family will receive friends Thursday evening, Aug. 6, from 6-8 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.
