Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2009 at Smyser Christian Church, Gays with Rev. Richard Coen officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2009 at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Smyser Christian Church, Gays or Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church, Decatur. Phyllis was born January 29, 1938 in Herrick, the daughter of Oral W. and Etta May (Beck) Horsman. She married Oscar F. Buxton on December 26, 1958 in Sullivan. Phyllis was a member of the Smyser Christian Church, Gays, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter # 39 and the Moultrie County Home Extension. She graduated in 1956 from Herrick High School. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Glenda R. Scroggins; sons, Michael S. Scroggins, and Paul Donavan (Kelly) Scroggins; daughter, Kristie Ann (Dennis) Scroggins-Porter; brother, Johnny (Susan) Scroggins; and grandchildren, Mason, Kailyn, Zachary, Autumn, and Bryson.

Mr. Jack M. Scroggins, 80, of Sunny Side, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at his residence.
Mr. Scroggins was born March 4, 1928, in Spalding County, son of the late Mack M. Scroggins [4471] and the late Addie Ballard Scroggins [4481]. He was a member of the Sunnyside First Baptist Church. Mr. Scroggins was a loving husband, daddy and granddaddy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maudine Allen Scroggins [4503]; grandson, Johnny Carter [4555]; great-grandsons, Chase and Noah Carter; and siblings, Herman Scroggins [4493], Raymond Scroggins [4501] and Reba Taylor [4560].
Survivors include his daughters, Sandra Carter [4552] (Homer Carver) [4554], and Cheryl Fortner [4553] (Greg); grandchildren, Christopher Nelson (Stacey Peppers), Ashley and Misty Nelson, and Rachael Carter; great-grandchildren, Jacob Nelson, Sierra Nelson, Emily Nelson, Caitlin Carter and namesake, Jack Nelson; brother and sister-in-law, Desmer [4500] and Joann Scroggins [4502]; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Scroggins will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, in the Warren Haisten Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Westwood Gardens. Roscoe Browning, 56, of Bidwell, crossed over to be with his Lord on Sunday, Feb, 15, 2009, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Roscoe was a member of the Rodney Pike Church of God, and a lay minister. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing gospel music.
Roscoe was a graduate of North Gallia High School and a graduate of the Gallipolis Business College. For 18 years, he was an accounting supervisor for the Galbraith Co. in Columbus.
Roscoe was born on May 9, 1952, in Iaeger, W.Va., to the late Roscoe Browning and Irene Varney Browning, who survives in Gallipolis.
On July 21, 1993, he married Vickie Roach Browning, and she survives along with two sons, Craig (Merideth) Browning of Sanger, Texas, and Adam (Karen) Allie of Georgetown, Ky.; one daughter, Melissa (Richard) Huffman of Gallipolis; six grandchildren, Chad Browning, Ashlee Huffman, R.J. Huffman, Caleb P., Rhema Allie and Daniel Allie; his mother, Irene Browning of Gallipolis, one sister, Arlene (David) Holley of Gallipolis; five brothers, Donald (Janet) Browning of Gallipolis, David (Diann) Browning of Charlotte, N.C., Bert (Judy) Browning of Gallipolis, James (Linda) Browning of Dayton, and Thomas [32668] (Casey [32920]) Scroggins of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; two step-brothers, Derwin Scroggins and Dwight (Judy) Scroggins, and one stepsister, Gail (Rueben) Squire, all of Montgomery, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roscoe Browning. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at the Willis Funeral Home, with Pastors Ron Bynum and Bill Staten officiating. He was born July 16, 1970, in Springfield, the son of LeRoy Eugene and Karen Sue Jurgens Vaughn.
He is survived by his father, LeRoy (special friend, Barbara Louise Scroggins [37341]) Vaughn of Jacksonville; one brother, Robert Eugene Vaughn of Jacksonville; two sisters, Mandy Rice Reiley of Lincoln and Ashley Love Scroggins [42793] of Jacksonville; one nephew, Adynn Anthony Rion Scroggins [add] of Jacksonville; his roommate, John; and all of his Eisenhower Terrace family. 69, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away on February 10, 2009, after a long and courageous struggle with her illness. Marlene was born on February 9, 1940 in Long Beach, California. She was a strong, elegant, graceful, generous and caring woman. Marlene studied dance from a young age and taught dance classes for many years. She moved from California to Show Low, Arizona in 1957 and married Jerry Reidhead--the love of her life. She worked as a bookkeeper for Reidhead Lumber Company. One of her many extraordinary accomplishments was as President of the Show Low Chamber of Commerce. She was well respected in her community and had many adoring friends and family. She had an unyielding devotion to her family and her friends. Marlene is survived by her husband, Jerry Reidhead of 52 years, and her daughters, Susanne Christensen and Patricia Reidhead (Sherry White) of Arizona and her grandson, Cody Christensen. She is further survived by her Mother, Virginia Clark [48675], her brother, and two sisters, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her father, Thomas Scroggins [48674], she was preceded in death by her son, Randy Reidhead. There will not be a formal funeral service. There will be a gathering of family and friends at her home in Scottsdale on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. to celebrate her remarkable life and many contributions. She will be deeply missed. In keeping with her wishes, she will be buried along side her son. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to: Arizona Humane Society, 1520 West Dobbins Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85041.

Raquel Scarlett Bramblett Kimbral, 25, of Dahlonega died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at Emory Hospital following a short illness.
A lifelong resident of Lumpkin County, Raquel was a loving wife and mother who was a courageous example and inspiration to all that knew her. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jacob David Crane-Sullivan; grandfather, Charles Crane; and father-in-law, Tony Kimbral.
Surviving are her husband, Tony Kimbral, Dahlonega; son, Gabryel Tony Kimbral, Dahlonega; mother, Carolyn Crane, Dahlonega; father, Don Bramblett, Dawsonville; sister, Rachael Koren, Dawsonville; brothers, Luke Crane-Lopez, Dahlonega, Elijah Crane-Sullivan, Dahlonega and Dylan Bramblett, Flowery Branch; grandmothers, Vera Crane, Dahlonega and Eloise Bramblett, Dawsonville; grandparents-in-law, Thomas and Helen Scroggins, Cumming; and nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, at 3 p.m. at Mill Creek Baptist Church. Pastor Ricky Stepp and the Rev. Terry Garrett will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends after noon Friday and all day Saturday at the funeral home.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Gabryel Kimbral Fund, c/o United Community Bank, P.O. Box 159, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

John "J.R." Richard Morrison, 79, of Bartlesville, passed away at 5:06 p.m. Friday February 6, in the Jane Phillips Medical Center. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Ochelata Methodist Church with Rev. Debbie Kerr officiating. Final committal rites will be accorded Mr. Morrison in the Ochelata Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 105 ceremonial detail. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home.
John "J.R." Richard Morrison was born on April 30, 1929 in Barnsdall, OK to Frank and Etta Mae Holland Morrison. John dedicated his life to his country from 1946-1968 serving in the U.S. Army. He served in three wars; WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He was awarded a Bronze Star and continued his military support by being a member of the VFW & American Legion. His children and grandchildren were of great joy to John. He also enjoyed the love and support of his brothers and sisters. He had many friends in the community and enjoyed their friendship.
John is survived by two daughters; Judy Scroggins and husband Dave of Oregon, MO, Debbie Partridge and husband Ray, retired U.S. Air Force E6 of Chapel Hill, TN. One son, John Morrison Jr. and wife Brenda of Houston, TX. Five grandchildren; Nicole, PFC Christopher Scroggins U.S. Marines, Justin, Andrea, Petty Officer 3rd Class Donna Kaye Scroggins U.S. Navy. One step-granddaughter Christina Parks. Three great grandchildren; Jaen, Jace and Ian. Two brothers; Frank Morrison and wife Peggy, Paul Morrison and wife Anita. Three sisters; Kathleen Fererro, Dixie and husband Ben Allen, Donna and husband Bill Belknap along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Pauline Morrison and Margie Wolbrett. Casket Bearers are Justin Partridge, Benne and John Allen, Mark Cammack, Christopher Scroggins and Bill Morrison. Honorary Casket Bearers are Ben Allen, Bill Belknap, Bill Trent, Jess Townsend, Don Adkins, Frank and Paul Morrison.

Mike graduated from Oregon City High School where he excelled in track. At the age of 20 he began his career with Precision Castparts, where he held multiple positions over the course of 42 years, including his last position at PCC Schlosser as human resources manager. After being married and divorced to Myrna Scroggins [], Mike married Christine Nettleton in 1996. In 2007 they moved to Redmond, where they enjoyed golfing and spending time with friends and family. Mike passed away on the morning of Feb. 2 after an eight-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Mike is survived by his wife, Christine; son, Jeff (Bobbi) Dew; stepdaughter, Francie (Andy) Engel; siblings, Susan, Jeannie, Pat, Gary and Brian; and five grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9 in Victorious Faith Family Church, 811 Center Street, Oregon City. Following the memorial service will be a celebration of life. Location to be announced at the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike's name may be made to Partners in Care (formerly Central Oregon Hospice) or the Oregon Humane Society.
