Imogene Sandella

April 13, 1928 - November 28, 2018

Imogene ( Scroggins ) Sandella was 90 years young when she passed over on November 28, 2018, in Tulsa, Okla. Born Friday, April 13, 1928, to Lola and Clarence Scroggins , she brought good luck to everyone around her. Growing up north of Columbus, Kan. she was known as the female partner in a prize-winning dance couple nicknamed the "Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers of Scammon, Kan".

After high school, Imogene married Louie Sandella on June 18, 1948. They raised three children, Deb, Dee and Gregg Sandella.

Imogene graduated from Pittsburg State College, and worked her way up from the accounting office at Maude Norton Hospital to hospital administrator. During these years when most small town hospitals couldn't survive financially, Imogene earned a Robert Wood Johnson grant that saved Maude Norton.

Imogene was passionately committed to do her best whether that was keeping the hospital open or raising her children. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother with a gentle soul and generous heart. She had an ageless tenderness that touched everyone around her. Her sense of humor blossomed with age and until the very end, she brought smiles and laughter to family and caretakers.

Imogene joins those who preceded her in death: parents, Lola and Clarence Scroggins ; brother, Bob Scroggins ; and husband, Louie Sandella.

She is forever in the hearts of those who survive her: adult children Deb Sandella and husband, Dick Fullerton, (Denver, Colo.), Dee Sandella (Denver, Colo.) Gregg Sandella and Donna Yaffe (Tulsa, Okla); grandchildren, Walker and wife, Jessica Fullerton, (Brooklyn Heights, N,Y.), Lindsey and husband, Justin Greer, (Tulsa), Nick and wife, Cyrena Sandella, (Tulsa), Michael Booz (San Francisco, Calif.), Elena Fullerton (Sydney, Australia), and Savannah Booz (Manhattan, N.Y.); great-grandchildren, Emerson Greer (Tulsa), Knox Greer (Tulsa), and Everett Fullerton (Brooklyn Heights).

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, December 3, at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, in Columbus, with Fr. Larry Parker officiating. Burial will follow at the Park Cemetery, in Columbus. Family will receive friends from 5:30-7 p.m. Sunday, December 2, at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, in Columbus.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the Mother of God Catholic Church, Oswego, Kan. Friends may drop off, or mail, memorials to the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 611 S. East Avenue, Columbus, KS 66725.
