Marie Scroggins was born to the late Nelie Short and Essle Rinehart Short in Steedman, Okla., on Oct. 20, 1925. Her husband of 51 years, Arthur R. Scroggins predeceased her in 1997. She was also predeceased by her brother, Truman Short. Marie joined family and friends in heaven Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, in Fort Smith.

Survivors include two daughters, Roberta Hindmarsh and husband James of Greenwood and Carol Scroggins of Fort Smith; her son, Arthur R. Scroggins Jr. and wife Mary of Fort Smith; two grandsons, Darrell Hindmarsh and wife Sharon and Neal Scroggins and wife Heather, all of Greenwood; her granddaughter, Amber Thompson and husband Nick of Alexander; her great-grandson, Parker Scroggins of Greenwood; two great-granddaughters, Peyton Scroggins of Greenwood and Elle Thompson of Alexander; her sister, Rosie Ward of Eureka, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside service is under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home in Ada, Okla., and will be at Allen Cemetery in Allen at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation with family and friends will be Monday at the Potters House, 3124 Jenny Lind, Fort Smith from 3-5 p.m.
