Edward Lee Scroggins
January 17, 1944 - January 10, 2012
Edward Lee Scroggins of Fayetteville, N.C., died last Tuesday, after lengthy battles of lung cancer and other medical conditions from Agent Orange.
He was a SEAL with the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Buchannan in the Republic of Vietnam and other ports out of San Diego, Calif. He was also a former corrections officer with the Federal Prison Systems.
He was born and raised in Morrisville and is survived by his wife, Mary Lou (Smith) [38847:B], who resides in Fayetteville, N.C. His daughters, Robyn Dickenson [tba:B] and husband Ty [tba:B], who is deployed to Afghanistan, live in Fayetteville, N.C., and Tina Nowak [tba:B] and husband Lance [tba:B] live in Grand Haven, Mich. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Zacharie [tba:B], who is deployed to Afghanistan, and Elizabeth [tba:B] , who lives with her parents in Michigan; and one sister, Ora Marie Phillips [7491:B] of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Scroggins [7096:B] and Loretta Dilday Trail [7102:B]; three sisters; one brother; and Ralph and Velma Dilday Pierce, who raised him.
Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, in Pitts Chapel, Bolivar, with Pastor Richard Taylor officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to service in the chapel. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Aldrich.

Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, Pitts Chapel, Bolivar, with visitation one hour prior to service.
