Alvin Scroggins, 67, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend was transported to his eternal home on Sunday, May 20, 2012. He was a member of God's Family Fellowship Church, which was truly a second family to him. He was a simple man who loved being with family and friends and listening to and singing southern gospel songs and he was also an avid Tennessee women's basketball fan, although he enjoyed other sports, too. He also enjoyed watching old westerns.  Alvin and Nancy's home was always a home where family and friends gathered to play games, eat, swim and just have fun. He retired from Mohawk Carpets in December 2009, where he had been employed for 42 years and was known as "Smiley". He left behind to follow, his wife of 42 years, Nancy (Grenz) Scroggins; son and wife, Andy and D'Wana Scroggins of Cleveland; daughter and husband, Amy and Greg Swallows; and grandchildren: Hunter Park (currently serving with the US Army in Afghanistan), Brooke Park and Thristia!
 n Swallows, all of Old Fort; sisters: Nora (Robbie) Price and Darlene O'Neal; and brother, Larry Scroggins, all of Cleveland and Willie (Jr.) Scroggins of Augusta, Ga.; sisters-in-law, Norita Terry of Cleveland and Jan (John) Nissen of Missouri; and special nephew, Chris (Suzanne) Scroggins of Knoxville; nieces: Robin Johnson, Hazel Price, Cara Ownby, Esther Roberts, Kim Terry, Karen Krewson, and Krystal Culbertson; nephews: Mark Scroggins, Todd Price, David Brewer, Brent Nissen, Brandon Nissen and Josh Terry; he also leaves behind two daughters of the heart: Angel Walsh and Angie Rose; many other sons and daughters of the heart gathered along the way, many extended family members and a multitude of friends that loved this jewel of a man. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Mary (Granny) Scroggins and Norman and Juanita Grenz. The family will receive friends at East Cleveland Baptist Church, Alvin's Mom's and Dad's home church as well as his boyhood church, !
 Thursday, May 24 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 7
 p.m. The Rev. Doug Bell and Willie (Jr.) Scroggins will conduct the funeral, during which friends and family will be given time to share special memories of Alvin. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Friday morning at 10 a.m. for close family and friends. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to God's Family Fellowship, in care of Pastor Doug Bell, 260 Sequoia Road N.W., Cleveland, TN 37312, for the purpose of helping fund the new building for Ms. Nancy's Pre-School and Day Care, which was a project dear to his heart.
