Nelle Walker Scroggins
Nelle Walker Scroggins, age 83 of Clarksville, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Gateway Medical Center.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 25th at 11 a.m., at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Geoffrey Sykes officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m., and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. Burial will be in the Green Plain Cemetery in Calloway County, KY. Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Scroggins was born July 11, 1927 in Hazel, KY, daughter of the late Charles Condon Walker and Azzie Butterworth Walker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Wardell Scroggins (43678); brother, Hollis Walker; sisters, Elizabeth Copeland and Charlene Curd.
Mrs. Scroggins was a retired teacher for Montgomery County, and member of Madison St. Church of Christ. She enjoyed volunteer work at the church, and also enjoyed painting and writing poetry.
She is survived by her son, Mark Walker Scroggins [43680] and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Low [] of Boca Raton, FL; sister, Anne Brinkley and sister-in-law, Faustine Walker, both of Hazel, KY. She was a devoted grandmother to Philippa Rahel and Daphne Bronwen Scroggins. Other survivors include her nieces and nephews, Nancy Cozort, Melissa Berhow, James Copeland, John Brinkley and Tip Curd.
Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.
