Jerry G. Scroggins [50746:P], 65, of Buchanan, MI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Hospice House in Roseland, IN. Jerry was born December 28, 1945, in Center Ridge, Arkansas to Melvin [50753:P] and Jessie [tba] Scroggins. Jerry graduated from Buchanan High School in 1965. Upon graduation, Jerry completed a tool and die apprenticeship program and received a degree in Industrial Technology. Jerry retired in 1997 after working 32 years at Weldun International/Bosch in Bridgman, MI. After a brief retirement, Jerry was employed with Teter Tool and Die, Inc. in La Porte, IN, where he continued to work until 2004. During his retirement, Jerry devoted his life to his grandchildren. He attended school activities, athletic events, dance recitals and any other event that was important to the grandchildren he loved so much. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Jacquelyn in 2004 and he leaves loving memories in the hearts of his two daughters, Jill (Craig) Hubble of St. Joseph, MI and Julie (Dan) Bihlmeyer of Apex, NC; and his four grandchildren. Jerry is survived by his parents, Melvin and Jesse Scroggins of Buchanan; and three siblings, Bob (Mary Ann) Scroggins, Don (Retha) Scroggins and Phyllis (Harold) Gaul all of Buchanan, MI. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, at Swem Funeral Home, 301 Front St., Buchanan, MI. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 16 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1340 Sycamore St., Niles, MI. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan, MI. Memorials may be made to Lory’s Place, 445 Upton Dr., St. Joseph, MI 49085 or to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
