Melva Eldridge Scroggins November 11, 1929 - May 15, 2009 COLUMBUS, GA—Melva Eldridge Scroggins, 79, passed away after a brief illness on May 15, 2009. She was born on November 11, 1929, in Cottondale, Florida to G. Cleveland Eldridge and Christine Burlison Eldridge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Rudolph Scroggins, Sr. [42572] Melva was a resident of Columbus, Georgia and Birmingham, Alabama for many years. She was loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her two sons, Allen Rudolph Scroggins, Jr. and his wife, Anna Matos Scroggins of Winter Springs, Florida and Joel Cleveland Scroggins and his wife, Donna Swift Scroggins of Birmingham, Alabama; grandchildren, Michael Nunez, Priscilla Nunez, Erica Shaw, and Jonathan Nunez of Winter Springs, Florida, Matthew Jess Scroggins, Andrew David Scroggins, and Leah Kathryn Scroggins of Birmingham, Alabama; and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by her three sisters, Mellie Eldridge Fountain, Mary Sue Eldridge Batastini of Columbus, Georgia and Betty Eldridge Fishner of Atlanta, Georgia; and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Southern Heritage Funeral Home with services beginning at 1:00 p.m. Dr. Gary Furr and Dr. Dennis Faust will be officiating. The pall bearers will be Barry Fishner, Matthew Scroggins, Andrew Scroggins, Wesley Griffin, Michael Nunez, and Christopher Wade. Honorary pall bearers will be Jonathan Nunez and Greg Fishner. In lieu of flowers, Melva requested donations be made to the Big Oak Ranch or the .
