Deceased Name: Geraldine "Jerry" Parker Thompson
Geraldine "Jerry" Parker Thompson, 90, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Jerry was born Sept. 3, 1918, in McAlester, Okla. She married John P. Thompson on June 5, 1937, in Sayre, Okla. She had been a resident of Amarillo most of her life. She worked for Kerr Paper Co. for 30 years until her retirement 21 years ago. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Outside of her family, her greatest enjoyments in life were bingo, traveling and "42" games with family and friends. The family would like to thank the Odyssey House in New Braunfels. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Parker; her husband, John P. Thompson; two brothers, Amos Parker and Jimmy Parker; four sisters, Opal Phillips, Bernice Waddell, Christine McClish and Pauline Hollifield; and a baby sister, Flora Maxine. Survivors include a sister, Jackie Taylor and husband Dick of Canyon Lake, Calif.; three sons, John Thompson and wife Nancy of Granbury, Mike Thompson and wife Carolyn of Kingsland and Rodney Thompson and wife Pattie of Plano; two daughters, Paula Davidson and husband Ralph of New Braunfels and Kay Scroggins and husband Eddie of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to American Heart Association, 2514 82nd St., Suite B, Lubbock, TX 79423. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
