Notice for Althea Gander Fox

Message: Althea Gander Fox ALTHEA GANDER FOX 1915-2008 On October 16, 2008, after a lengthy illness, Althea G. Fox, age 92, went home to the Lord. Althea was born November 13, 1915 and raised in East Pensacola Heights. She was a member of the first class to attend Annie K. Sutter Elementary in East Pensacola Heights. She was the daughter of Joseph Warren Gander and Margaret Ida Ditto. Althea was the youngest and last surviving child of the seven children of Joseph and Margaret Gander. Althea retired at the age of 71 as office manager of Abbot Oil Company. She was preceded in death by all her brothers and sisters; Erma Scroggin, Victor Gander, Frank Gander, Ruth Broxton, Pauline Jernigan and Paul Gander. She was married to the late Lawrence (Larry) Fox for thirty-one (31) years. Larry predeceased her on June 5, 1971. She is survived by her son John Fox and daughter-in-law Cheryl Fox. She has two grandsons and their wives, Eric Charles Fox and Tiffany Fox and John Alexander (Alex) Fox and Carrie Fox. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews within the Pensacola area. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 20, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Paul Catholic Church on Hyde Park Road with Father John Lacari as the Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery alongside her beloved husband. BAYVIEW FISHER-Pou is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Richard Combs, Thomas Combs, Daniel Moyer, Douglas Parker, Dr. William Whibbs and Randle Broxton. The family will receive family and friends at Bayview Fisher-Pou Funeral Home on Sunday, October 19, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. Donations mayn be made to Covenant Hospice or St. Paul Catholic Church in Althea's name.
