Age 86. Died peacefully, Sunday July 8, 2007 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born December 13, 1920 in New Lenox, IL, he was a lifetime area resident. A U.S. Army veteran who served in the South Pacific during WWII. Past Commander of VFW Cantigny Post #367. Ray retired January 1, 1981 from Reynolds Metals Co., after 34 years of dedicated service. He was General Foreman of the Cold Rolling Dept. He liked to Bowl and was an avid Golfer who achieved a hole in one several years ago.

Surviving are one son, David (Lenora) Murray of Hazen, AR.; two daughters, Barbara (Richard) Conklen of Omro, WI., and Pamela Murray of Downers Grove, IL.; grandchildren, Deanna (Steven) Elmendorf, Larry (Amy) Murray, Susan (Kevin) Kaehlert and Debbie (David) Bergmann; great grandchildren, Christopher and Kimberly Elmendorf, Colin and Lindsay Murray, Jordan and Trenton Kaehlert, and Madison Bergmann. Also survived by a brother, William K. Murray; two sisters, Marge Waznis and Dolores Moore; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his faithful canine companion, Cody.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruby (nee Hill) Murray; one grandson John Conklen; his parents, Joseph and Margaret [48721] (nee Scroggins) Murray; and his sister, Dorothy Govoni.

Funeral services for Raymond L. Murray will be Thursday, July 12, 2007 at St. John Lutheran Church, 2650 Plainfield Rd. (at Hennepin Dr.), where he will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until the services begin at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at:
