WATERBURY - Freddie Jones Sr., 68, of 70 Lakewood Road, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday Oct. 10, 2006, at Saint Mary's Hospital.

Mr. Jones was born May 14, 1938, in Notasulga, Ala., son of the late Mr. Jones and Lillie Mae Jones. He attended schools in Alabama, and then relocated to Connecticut where he was a resident for more than 40 years. Freddie worked as mechanic for Harry's Auto body and Bradshaw Jeep in Oakville for 10 years. He loved to travel, fish and work on cars, but most of all he loved his family.

He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Freddie Jones Jr. and Michael Jones, both of Waterbury; two daughters-in-law, Wendy (Overton) Jones and Shamica Jones, both of Waterbury; two sisters, Annie Lois and Mary Jones, both of Alabama; two sisters-in-law, Creasie Jones of Georgia, Betty Joe Jones of Alabama; 10 grandchildren; a devoted niece, Patricia "Lisa" Scroggins of Waterbury; and a companion, Madgeolyn Berry of Waterbury. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Abraham Jones and Roosevelt Jones, and a sister, Lillie Mae Myhand.

A celebration of his life and legacy will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, at Petteway Funeral Home, 116 East Farm St., Waterbury. Calling hour will be at 9 a.m. Burial is at the convenience of the family.
