Thomas Elwood "T.J." Queen Jr.
Queen Jr., Thomas Elwood "T.J." A resident of Baton Rouge and a native of New Orleans, he died Monday, May 15, 2006, at the age of 23. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Visiting was at St. Peter Baptist Church in Plaquemine on Friday, May 19, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Religious service was at Our Lady of Guadalupe-St. Jude Shrine in New Orleans on Saturday, May 20, at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Tony Rigoli, O.M.I. Recitation of the rosary was at the church at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Plaquemine. He is survived by his parents, Thomas Queen Sr. and Vivian Piper Queen; a stepbrother and stepsister-in-law, Chris and Orietta Queen, Silver Springs, Md.; special devoted friend, Elizabeth Hughes; niece, Amanda Queen; nephew, Miguel Queen; aunts and uncles including, Mary Louise Queen, LaPlata, Md., Patricia and Kenny Curtis, Landover, Md., Judy Lee, LaPlata, Calvin and Richie Queen, Clinton, Md., James Queen and Michael Scroggins, both of LaPlata, the Rev. James and Joyce Piper, Plaquemine, Charles and Lucille Piper, Gulfport, Miss., Attie and Larry Osborne, Bayou Goula, Carrie and Louis Germany, David and Mary Piper, and Cheryl S. Piper, all of Plaquemine, Richard and Myrtis Piper, Donald and Audrey Piper, and Linda and Michael Brown, all of Baton Rouge; and numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Earline Piper; paternal grandparents, James and Agnes Queen; and uncles, Scotty and Lawrence Queen and Jerome Piper. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and the Livingston Boys Club. He graduated from Marian Abramson High School in New Orleans. He was an instructor at Blue Lion Karate Club and a former member of the U.S. Marine Corps and the New Orleans Police Training Academy. Roscoe Mortuary, Plaquemine, is in charge of arrangements.
