46, died on November 10, 2005 at her home. She was born February 1, 1959, a daughter of the late Vernon B. and Dorothy A. (Homer) Whitney and formerly from Somerville and Everett, MA. Sister graduated from Somerville High School, Notre Dame College in Manchester, NH and received her Masters Degree in Theology from St Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia, PA. She entered religious life in 1984 and has taught at Rochester Catholic School which is now known as St Elizabeth Seton School in Rochester, NH, St Theresa School in Spring Hill, FL and presently at Sacred Heart School in Hampton, NH. Sister is predeceased by her brother Wayne and is survived by 11 siblings; Vernon and Anna Whitney of Everett, MA; Dorothy and Harold Scroggins of Clearwater, FL; Frank Whitney of Somerville, MA; Donna and Donald Carbone of Peabody, MA; Debbie and Eddie Calderone of Peabody, MA; Diane and Tim O'Keefe of Everett, MA; Bruce and Luisa Whitney of Burlington, MA; Doreen and John Howard of Medford, MA; John and Rita Whitney of Burlington, MA; Devon Whitney-Deal and Bob Deal of Conway, MA; Scott and Angie Whitney of Everett, MA; and her sister in Religious Life, Sister Mary Joan Walsh, OLL, of Portsmouth, NH. Sister is also survived by 28 nieces and nephews and 2 great nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Church, 98 Summer St, Portsmouth, NH on Monday at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Portsmouth, NH. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to call at the Immaculate Conception Church on Sunday during the hours of 2-4 & 6-9 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Sister Bernadette Whitney Culture of Life Scholarship Fund, c/o Sisters of Our Lady of Lourdes, 125 Austin St, Portsmouth, NH 03801.
