SHELBYVILLE -- Ernest E. Scrogin, 87, of Shelbyville, formerly of Findlay, died 4:25 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 9, 2002) in Shelby Memorial Hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, with the Revs. George Constant and David Beerbower officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery. Memorials: Mount Pleasant Church of God, Assumption.
Mr. Scrogin was born Sept. 21, 1915, in Findlay, the son of William Orville [21681:J, SP:H302, FaG:84077136] and Dora Pearl Claypool [21685:J, FaG:84077067] Scrogin. He was a retired farmer and worked for many years at the Findlay High School and Findlay Lumber Yard. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Church of God. He married Evelyn Weakly [38349:J, FaG:92049213] on June 1, 1935. She preceded him in death Nov. 13, 1989. He married Carvell Simpson Herton Grubb [38350:J] on Aug. 25, 1990.
Surviving are his wife; son, Carroll Scrogin [40521:J, SP:K152] and wife Kay [40522:J, fb] of Moweaqua; daughter, Betty Miner [40528:J, SP:K151] of Decatur; sister, Gladys Bendler [38663:J] of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Debby Helton [40530:J, SP:L261] of Mount Zion; Bradley Scrogin [40523:J, SP:L171] of Rockford; Stephanie Crawford [40524:J, SP:L152] of Arlington, Texas; Shelly Waller [40526:J] of Mount Zion; eight great-grandchildren; one great- great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife and sister, Mildred Neal [38662:J].
