Jack was born December 22, 1926, in Lincoln, IL, the son of Wesley A. and Helene E. (Shrader) Scroggin. He married his life-long friend and companion Joyce Baker on August 15, 1948. After serving in the US Army during World War II, he attended the University of Illinois and graduated with honors in 1950, majoring in accounting and agronomy.
