Funeral services for Michael Anthony "PaPa" Canino, 52, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jeff Kolk officiating. Interment will follow in the Homer Cemetery. Mr. Canino was born September 7, 1964 in Meridian, Mississippi to Karen (Bradford) Canino Perkins and Lind Canino. Mike encountered an unhandled exception in his core operating system which created a critical "stop" condition on Monday, December 12, 2016 in Houston. Mike had resided in Lufkin since 1992 and previously lived in San Diego, California. He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran and an avid software developer. Mike was a one-of-a-kind guy. Most of all, he enjoyed being "PaPa" to his beloved grandson, Brant. Through it all, Mike never lost his sense of humor while battling cancer. He was a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church. He is survived in legacy by his wife, Teresa Canino of Lufkin; son, Jeremy Barber of Lufkin; grandson, Brant Barber of Lufkin; Brant's mother, Chana Miller of Lufkin; mother and father, Karen and Billy Perkins of Lufkin; grandmother, Bea Franklin of Colorado; brothers, Richard Gray and Angel, and Todd Gray of Beaumont, Michael Messinger of Montana, Darin and Bertha Perkins of Lufkin, Lind, Jr. and Candy Anne of Virginia, sisters, Sherry and Stede Granger of Georgia, Tina and Steve Burkey of Hawaii; father, Lind Canino, Sr. of Virginia; fur babies, Sprocket and FiFi; and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and in-laws. Mike was preceded in death by grandson, Adam Barber; and father and mother-in-law, Robert [14661:3] and Betty [15737:3] Scroggins . Pallbearers will be Richard Gray, Todd Gray, Michael Messinger, Joshua Gray, Darin Perkins, and Josh Womack. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
