Herbert Scroggins, 83, of Cleveland County, died Friday, August 12, 2016 at home.
He was born May 20, 1933 in Monroe, Louisiana, son of Lonnie [43950:N] and Mittie Ann Nolan [49622:N] Scroggins.
Mr. Scroggins owned and operated his farm for many years and worked as a logging contractor.
When he was not on the farm, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his loving family.
Mr. Scroggins was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Willie Mae Puckett [54176:N]; and brother, Fred Scroggins [52531:N].
Survivors include his wife, Hilda Gene Yarbrough Scroggins, whom he married November 9, 1954 in Humphrey; two sons, Henry Scroggins and his wife, Barbara, and Jerry Scroggins and his wife, Carla, both of Rison; two daughters, Terry Gibson of Rison and Connie Bumpas and her husband, Willie, of Woodlawn; six sisters, Juanita Ford, Virginia Beam, Betty Parson, Joyce Hamilton and her husband, Tony, Wilma Davis and her husband, Wayne, and Oma Deffee and her husband, Bob; two brothers, Vernon Scroggins [49616:N] and Jack Scroggins and his wife, Judy; grandchildren, Holly and Patrick Mayfield, Candy Scroggins, James “Dood” Paxton, II, Krystal Bumpas, Frances and Alan Aud, Logan Scroggins, Nathan Sisson, Pat and Cheyenne Gibson, IV, Willie Bumpas, III and Jerry “Ty” Scroggins, II; and great-grandchildren, Lexi Mayfield, Aaron Mayfield, Zaiden Smith and Rowdy Gibson, V.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 15, 2016 at Corinth Missionary Baptist Church near Humphrey with Reverend Jackie Richardson officiating.
Burial will follow in Frazier Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 3-5 p.m. at Robinson’s.
