Body thought to be missing man found in Boone County
HARRISON, Ark. (AP) - The body believed to be that of a missing man has been found in Boone County and two people have been arrested in connection to his death.
Capt. Bob King says a 22-year-old suspect told authorities that he shot 28-year-old Jeremy Scroggins during an attempted robbery in June. According to King, the suspect told police the location of Scroggins' body, which was found in woods near a cemetery, 3 miles northwest of Harrison. The remains were found Monday.
The suspect has been arrested on several preliminary charges, including capital murder and aggravated robbery. King says he was already in jail on unrelated charges.
A 25-year-old woman was arrested on a preliminary charge of aggravated robbery. Authorities say she and the other suspect picked up Scroggins and took him to the area where he was shot.

Jeremy Scroggins’ body found Monday; 2 facing murder charges
Authorities say the body of 28-year-old Jeremy Scroggins has been found and two people were being held in the Boone County Jail on suspicion of capital murder in the case.
Scroggins was last seen by his parents on June 27. Sheriff Mike Moore said the disappearance was considered suspicious in nature because Scroggins was last known to be in the area of Gipson and Rock Springs Road going to The Links apartments.
Boone County Sheriff’s Capt. Bob King said Scroggins’ remains were found in the Capps area near Denning Cemetery. He said it appeared the body had been in that location for an extended period of time.
King said Morgan Michelle Vaughan, 25, of Jasper, and Shay Corbett Butler, 22, of Harrison face capital murder and aggravated robbery charges in the case and were in custody Wednesday morning.
Vaughan was booked into the jail about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, records show.
Butler had actually been booked into the Boone County Jail on Sept. 19 after being sentenced to the Regional Punishment Facility and was awaiting transport, King said.
King also said investigators secured a confession in the case.
Moore said investigators determined that Shay and Butler picked up Scroggins, then drove to a rural location in Boone County with a plan to rob him.
“Butler admitted that he shot Scroggins during the robbery,” Moore said in a statement.
Moore said a press conference is scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Sheriff’s Office.
