DALHART — John L. Scroggins , 82, died Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, in Claude.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Liberty Baptist Church in Dalhart with Royce A. Mason officiating. Arrangements are by Horizon Funeral Home of Dalhart.
John L. Scroggins was born Jan. 26, 1934, in Quanah to Henry and Ettie V. Scroggins . He was raised in Vernon, where he met and married Belva Scroggins on May 9, 1952.
He lived in Borger and worked for the housing authority until he retired to Dalhart in 1999. He had two children, Theresa Matthews and Randy Scroggins .
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Scroggins and Ettie V. Scroggins ; his wife, Belva Scroggins ; two brothers, Clyde and Earnest; and three sisters, Joyce, Unisfaye and Vonnie.
Survivors include his children, Theresa Matthews of Claude and Randy Scroggins of Amarillo; three sisters, Vivian of California, Edna of Dumas and Charlsetta of Oklahoma; two grandsons; three granddaughters; and seven great-grandchildren.
Flowers may be sent to the family in care of the funeral home, 701 Elm Ave.
