Herbert Eugene Scroggins [53701], 82 of Bloomington died Saturday, November 28, 2015 in his residence with his family by his side. He was born January 25, 1933 in Bloomington to Wilbur Curtis (Skinny) Scroggins [s/26611?] and Minnie Belle (Annabelle) Robertson Scroggins. He was retired from Ralph Rogers and Co. and as a self-employed logger. On February 4, 1955 Herbert married Joann Polley [53702] and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage together.
Survivors include his wife, Joann Polley Scroggins of Bloomington; two daughters, Pam Wheeler [tba, fb] and her husband Rick [, fb] of Decater, Texas and Beth Mayo [53703, fb] and her husband Dale of Worthington; a son, Curt Scroggins [tba] and his wife Penny [, fb] of Bloomington; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Crody [, fb] and her husband Brandon, Ashley Hobbs [, fb] and her husband David [fb], Hannah Wheeler [, fb], Wil Scroggins [, fb] and his wife Candice , fb], Sam Scroggins [, fb], Hunter Scroggins [, fb] and Morgan Wheeler [, fb] ; and Herb and Joann were looking forward to the birth of their first great-grandchild in March. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur Curtis (Skinny) Scroggins; his mother, Annabelle Sample; his stepfather who raised him with love, Otis Sample; and a son, Barry Scroggins.
Herb was of the Baptist faith; he enjoyed his family and grandchildren, his coffee, time alone in the woods and woodworking.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 1:00 PM in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E Third St. with Pastor Harold Godsey officiating; Entombment will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday December 1, 2015 from 3:00 – 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
