 Fredrick F. "Fred" Scroggins, 83, passed away , Monday, Dec. 8, 2014 in Alden Debes Rehab & Health Care Center. Born May 11, 1931 in Lake City, Iowa, son of Fred A. [43925:K] and Pearl E. (Campbell) [43926:K] Scroggins. Married to Renae Fern Kliebe [43921:K] on March 11, 1952. She predeceased him on Oct. 2, 2006. Former contractor for many years. Decorated veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Air Force. Fred attended Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Lifelong member of VFW and past Commander of Belvidere Post #1461, currently a member of VFW Post #9759 and major with the Civil Air Patrol USAF Aux., GLR-IL-251, Rockford Composite Squadron. Survivors include daughters, Denise [44307:K] (Scott Blankman) DeMarb of Madison, WI, Melinda Lee [44308:K] of Rockford, Machelle [44309:K] (James [44310:K]) Kolbassa of Rockford, and Anne [43919:K] (Josh [44313:K]) Lambert of Leesburg, VA; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Denny Scroggins [43922:K] of Florida; and sister, JoAnne Burns [45920:K] of Rockford. Predeceased by parents; granddaughter, Amy; and sister, Midge Holmes [45918:K].
Memorial service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014 in Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 2001 N. Alpine Rd., Rockford, IL 61107 with the Rev. Ken Krause officiating. Interment in Scandinavian Cemetery. Arrangements by Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd., 215 N. Sixth St., Rockford, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
