STERLING – Larry Lynn Scroggins [54596:G], 70, formerly of Rock Falls, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Larry was born Feb. 22, 1944, in the village of Palmyra, to Carl Russel and Ada Gene (Austin) Scroggins. He proudly served in the Air Force as a master sergeant from 1963 to 1984. Larry married Beverly Tresness [54597:G, fb] on Dec. 17, 1974, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Larry was the past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8713. He loved his family and his country. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly; five daughters, Lori Scroggins-Licocci [54598:G, fb], of Sterling, Kari [54599:G, fb] (Fred [54600:G]) Scroggins Halcomb of Clinton, Iowa, Stacie Scroggins [54601:G, fb] of Sterling, JoAnn  [54602:G, fb] (Bill Balmer [54603:G]) Hart of Horseheads, New York, and Kristie [54604:G] (Jessie [54605:G]) Greeno of Williston, Florida; two sons, Larry Lynn [45065:G] (Tawnia [45066:G, fb]) Scroggins II of Forks, Washington, and Brian [54606:G] (Tina [54607:G]) Hart of Thonotosassa, Florida; two sisters, Linda [54608:G] (Tom [54609:G]) Appel of Rock Falls and Debra [54610:G] (Bob [54611:G]) Owens of Como; one brother, Gene [54613:G] (Pat [54614:G]) Scroggins of Dixon; one sister-in-law, Charlene Holmes [54612:G] of Florida; 13 grandchildren, Ryan (Racheal Quintero) Walsh, Monica [54617:G, fb] (Chad Molina [54618:G]) Walsh, Anthony Licocci, Austin Halcomb, Alexis Halcomb, Rhett Scroggins [54622:G, fb] , Mason Berge, Kellen Berge, Andrew Mock, Kendra (Dustin Ryan) Noah, Samantha Hart, Josh Torneby, and Emma Torneby; four great-grandchildren, Averielle Molina [54619:G], Adalynne Molina [54620:G], Kayleigh Ryan, and Alice Torneby; and four nephews, Charles Lilly, Terry Lilly, David Appel, and Shawn Jacobs.

He was preceded in death his parents; one sister, Kay Lilly [54615:G]; and one grandson, Ronnie Scroggins [45062:G].

Cremation rites will be accorded McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory in Rock Falls. A private family gathering will be held. Burial of ashes will be at a later date at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
