Josephine Scroggins, 89, of Kankakee, passed away Sunday (Feb. 9, 2014) at ManorCare Health Services in Kankakee.
She was born Jan. 23, 1925, in Kankakee, the daughter of Frank and Lillian Giardina.
Her husband, Lyle J. Scroggins [30087:Q], whom she Mrs. married Feb. 9. 1944, in Kankakee, passed Scroggins away Jan. 1, 1977.
She was employed as a mental health technician level 3 at Manteno Mental Health Center.
Josephine attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Kankakee. She enjoyed crocheting In which she won blue ribbons and taking In children and young adults who needed a meal or a place to stay. She was known as Ma Jo. Everyone loved her and she never met a stranger.
She is survived by her children, Steven [35667:Q] (Pamela [35850:Q]) Scroggins Sr., of Jerseyville, Robert Scroggins [35668:Q], of Aroma Park. Frank Scroggins [35670:Q], of Chebanse, Theresa [35665:Q] (Roger [35671:Q]) Heck, of Kankakee, Joseph Scroggins [35669:Q]; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Scroggins [35662:Q], of Karnak; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Josephine was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosemary Osenglewski [35666:Q]; and two sons, Wayne Scroggins [18323:Q] and an infant, Lyle Scroggins. [tbs:Q]
Burial will be In Mount Calvary Cemetery, Kankakee.
