Martha Gertrude Scroggin, 77, of Nicoma Park, passed away at home Wednesday, January 1, 2014. Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 4 at Barnes Friederich Chapel, Midwest City; final resting place at Vamoosa Cemetery, with burial at 2:30 p.m. Martha was born April 15, 1936, in Talihina, OK, to Sylvan and Mildred Bell. Martha grew up in Buffalo Valley with one brother and four sisters. She graduated from Buffalo Valley High School, where she was an excellent basketball player. On December 4, 1954, Martha married her husband of 59 years, James Russell Scroggin [52748], in Oklahoma City. Martha was a member of the Choctaw Road Baptist Church, a church that she loved and meant so much to her. She was a devoted wife to her husband she adored and the greatest mother to her three children and an even greater grandmother to her grandchildren, whom she cherished. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Sy and Millie; one brother, Lee; and three sisters, June, Virginia, and Diane. She is survived by her loving husband, James Russell [52748]; son, Keith [52750] and wife Debbie [tba], of Yukon, OK; daughters: Karen Wilson [52750] and husband Rob [tba], of Fort Worth, TX; and Patricia Carter [52751] and husband Jeff [tba], of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren, Jennifer Witt and husband Darby, Matthew Scroggin and wife Tammy, Cody Wilson and wife Tina, Cory Wilson and wife Kristin, Eric Strong and Kristina Harris, Kevin Strong and Tony Carter; great-grandchildren, Ryan Scroggin, Devon Wilson, Madison Smith, and soon-to-be twin boys Strong; sisters, Katherine Bray and husband Gene and Sylvia McDaniel; along with several nieces, nephews, family and friends. A donation may be made to the American Kidney Fund. The family would like to send sincere gratitude to the staff at Fresenius Dialysis Services Heritage Park and Hospice Quality Care for the loving care provide to Martha and the family.
