Sharon Ann Scroggins, 68, of Redding, Calif., passed away Dec. 27, 2013.

She was born to Eileen Bradshaw and the late Otis Junior Bradshaw July 27, 1945, in Oakland, Calif. Sharon graduated from Hayward High School in 1963 where she met her husband of nearly 49 years, James Edward Scroggins [43414]. Sharon married James on Jan. 9, 1965, in Reno, Nev. They lived in the East Bay Area for many years before moving to Trinity County in 1979.

She worked for the Trinity County Welfare Department, as well as the Trinity County Sheriff's Department, where she ultimately retired in 2002 before moving to Redding. She also spent a short time working in Redding at Le Brun adult care facility as an activity director, helping the mentally challenged.

Sharon was an accomplished musician and played bass guitar with her husband in their band, The Fringe Benefits. They were members of the musicians union and started in the Bay Area performing at countless wedding receptions, private parties and holiday events and continued playing in Trinity County as the house band for the Trinity Alps Golf Course and the Moose Lodge in Lewiston, as well as for Cedar Stock Resort.

Sharon was also an active member of the local Christian Church in Trinity County and played bass in the church band for many years while pastor Bill Johnson was presiding. She loved working with the youth and went to Mexico at one point to help build an orphanage.

Sharon was very involved in the performing arts and enjoyed singing and participated in various plays/musicals over the years.

Sharon inspired us all in so many ways, and she could light up a room with her smile; everyone who knew her loved that special quality that she possessed.

Sharon is survived by her husband, James Scroggins [43414]; daughter, Stacy [52911] of Sacramento, Calif.; mother, Eileen Bradshaw of Prescott, Ariz.; brother, Michael Bradshaw of Walnut Creek, Calif.; sisters Susan Bailey of Chino Valley, Ariz., and Cynthia Bradshaw of Weed, Calif.; brothers David Bradshaw of La Selva Beach, Calif., and Kevin Bradshaw of Redding. She is also survived by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Samuel "Vic" Baslee and Pauline Baslee of Douglas City.

Memorial services will be held at Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel in Redding at 1 p.m. Feb. 15. Your attendance is welcome and your support is appreciated.
