James Louis Scroggins

Weogufka, Alabama - Funeral service for Mr. James Louis Scroggins [44238], 83, of Weogufka, will be Tuesday, November 26, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Radney-Smith Funeral Home.  Rev. Jim Shaw and Bobby Littleton will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Unity Presbyterian Cemetery, Weogufka.  Visitation will be Monday, November 25, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Scroggins passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013, at the VA Hospital in Birmingham.  He was born on November 7, 1930, in Coosa County.  He was retired from the U.S. Army where he served his country from 1950 to 1971 in the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was very proud of it.  During earlier years, he really enjoyed his grand and great grandchildren.

He is survived by five step children, Jimmy Green (wife Sandy, son Jason) of Elephant Butte, NM (daughter Kallie) of Ocean Springs, MS; Larry Green [54355] (wife Delores, daughter Tracie); Janice Machen (daughter Lisa, son Kevin) of Weogufka; Pat Gaither (daughter Angie), and Bob Green (wife Carolyn, sons Derek, Aaron and daughter Bobbi) of Sylacauga (daughter Kim of Pascagoula, MS); several grand and step grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; sister Joyce Moore of Gulfport, FL; step sister Sue Shaw of Dothan; step brothers Elton McGrady (Ann) and Denson McGrady (Dot) of Stewartville.

He is preceded in death by his father, Sidney Scroggins [45955]; mother, Etta Vansandt Scroggins McGrady [tba]; wife, Virgie Mae Green Scroggins [44239]; half sister, Glenda McGrady Sims; and several step brothers and sisters.

Memorial donations may be made to the Unity Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund at Weogufka, 8780 Coosa Co. Rd 56, Weogufka, AL, 35183.
