Daughter of Scrogins, Eula May (Swartslander) ( - ) [51981:J]
Olive Porter [51982:J] 85, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Rehab Center of Des Moines.
Olive was born October 13, 1927 in Des Moines to Clarence [51980:J] and Eulah (Scrogins) [51981:J] Swartslander. She retired from Iowa Power & Light Co. in 1989, where she had worked as a payroll clerk for many years. She and her husband loved to travel, watch movies and spent many days enjoying the Iowa State Fair. Olive was always a helpful hand, and loved her family dearly.
Olive is survived by her nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and a host of extended relatives and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Porter [51983:J] and her sister, Betty [51984:J] (Harry [51985:J]) Enos; her brothers, Clarence "Spike" Jr. [51986:J] (Helen [51987:J]) Swartslander and Donald [51988:J] (Dorothy) [51989:J] Swartslander.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
