Mr. Larry Eugene Johnson, age 67, passed away unexpectedly at his residence in Huntsville, AL on Saturday, April 13, 2013.

Larry was born and grew up in Maury County, Tennessee on July 10, 1945, one of five children of Benton Harold and Lois Estelle Scroggins Johnson. He graduated from Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tennessee and served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Larry spent his entire working career in the IT industry. Since the 1970's he lived in Huntsville, Alabama and worked at the Redstone Arsenal in the Office of the Chief Information Officer/G6. He was CMM Level 2 Certified and worked specifically as a member of the Application Processes Team. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.

Also Larry was known to family and friends as an Elvis impersonator and loved singing Elvis' songs.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his mother: Lois Estelle Scroggins Johnson [19891]; siblings: James "Eddy" (Janice) Johnson and Linda (Charles) Duplessis 19892]; nieces and nephews: Tonya (Bernie) Johnson Anderson, Tina (David) Johnson Stephenson, Shae (Dennis) Duplessis David, Eric (Tiffany) Duplessis, Nicholas "Nick" (Stacey) Johnson, Crystal (Seth) Johnson Cox; and 18 great nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his father: Benton Harold Johnson, Sr.; and two brothers: Benton Harold "Hal" Johnson, Jr. and Willie Edgar "Bill" Johnson.

Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Bob Creasy and Bro. Lawrence Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Everlasting Life with military honors provided by the American Legion Herbert Griffin Post 19. The family will visit with friends on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
