Mr. Conway Scroggins, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI at the age of 87 years. He was born March 21, 1925 in Lockesburg, AR to Conway and Jettie Scroggins, coming to Saginaw, MI in 1948. Mr. Scroggins was married to Bennie (Richardson) Scroggins, the mother of his children: two daughters, Teressa Sims of Saginaw, MI, and Mary (Derek) Roberson of Saginaw, MI, and four sons, Frank (Barbara) Scroggins of Grand Rapids, MI, Rickie (Sandra) Scroggins of Saginaw, MI, David (Shawanda) of Saginaw, MI and Lawrence Scroggins, who preceded him in death. He was later united with Adelaide (Baptist) Scroggins, with whom he shared 25 years of marriage. He retired from the General Motors Grey Iron Foundry in 1974 and was a member of UAW Local 668. He was a member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, where he served faithfully on the Usher Board. He loved his church and church family. Mr. Scroggins leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Adelaide Scroggins; sister, Zora Scroggins of Chicago, IL; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as 13 stepchildren of Saginaw, MI, Grand Rapids, MI and Boston, MA, many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson; four brothers; and one sister. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 535 Cathay Street. Pastor P. David Saunders will officiate with interment in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, on Tuesday from 12:00 until 8:00 p.m.
