SCROGGIN, Clay C. 46, died July 28, 2011 at home in Seminole, following a valiant battle against Glioblastoma Multiforme, an aggressive malignant brain tumor. Born Feb. 4, 1965 at Eglin AFB to LTC. Orville O. III [32595:P] and Mary C. [39575:P] Scroggin. Clay attended Fort Walton Beach High School and continued his education at Troy University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Founder and President of CompareHRIS.com, Clay built his company as a unique entity providing a comprehensive online resource for human resource software, HRIS, and HRMS applications. He is also the author of hundreds of business articles. Clay is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Deborah Allard Scroggin [59015]; mother, Mary Scroggin of Fort Walton Beach; brothers, Bruce Foreman [] of West Frankfort, IL, Orville O. "Dub" Scroggin IV [39574] of Fort Walton Beach, Jeffrey J. Scroggin [39523] of Roswell, GA; sisters, Jennifer T. Prescott [] of Jacksonville, and Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Casteel [] of Gaylord, KS; many nieces; and nephews: and a vast extended family and friends all over the world. Viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 5-7 pm at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road, in Fort Walton Beach. The funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, Aug. 3, also at Emerald Coast Funeral Home. Clay will be laid to rest at Beal Memorial Cemetery at 4 pm. While his education, experience, and skills helped him create a successful business that will continue to help others, Clay Scroggin's legacy, for all who have known him, is his lust for life, joy, and laughter, he was "powered by optimism". Clay will be sorely missed, never forgotten, and loved always.
