Funeral service for Mrs. Mary Moore Scroggins, 81, of Alexander City, will be Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 3:00 pm at the Comer Memorial United Methodist Church. Rev. Lynn Peters and Rev. Clyde Coker will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 29, 2011 from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.

Mrs. Scroggins passed away on Friday, May 27, 2011 at University of Alabama Hospital. She was born on January 6, 1930 in Sylacauga, Alabama to Roy Paul Moore [] and Bivie Lennie-Leona Burleson Moore []. She was an active member of Comer Memorial United Methodist Church and loved her church and church family dearly. She loved her family very much and was a wonderful mother and grandmother. For several years she worked at Russell Corporation. She was also self-employed and operated Scroggins General Merchandise. She was very talented. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed doing arts and crafts. She was also an excellent cook and could cook the best chicken and dumplings. Mrs. Mary was a generous giver. She would open her home to anyone in need and would do anything for anyone. She was a perfect example of a Christian lady. She always put others before herself.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Scroggins Sewell [42439] (Tom [42440]) of Jackson’s Gap and Debra Scroggins Easterwood [42441] (Mark [42442]) of Jackson's Gap; son, Larry Paul Scroggins [42443](Amanda []) of Jackson's Gap; daughter-in-law, Paula Champion Scroggins [42436] of Jackson's Gap; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and special friend, Bud Johnson of Alexander City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Farrow Scroggins [42433]; and son, James Kenneth Scroggins [42435].
